Understanding "the wave".......
Personally, I don't give a $hit if someone does or doesn't wave at me when out driving our Corvette. Last weekend, my wife and I were out on some nice back roads and could see a line of C6 and C7's coming our way-turned out to be 9 total. As they approached, I could see the couple in the lead car were both waving enthusiastically, so we returned "the wave", and repeated to each and every car. Only two of the drivers failed to return "the wave".
My wife looked at me and said "Wow-7 out of 9. Not bad. Why do you suppose the 2 didn't wave?".
I told her "Obviously, jealous. Would have rather been in a C1".
At least that's the way I see it.

It's respect. I wave to anyone driving a old car. When I'm in my 94 I hardly get any waves from newer Vettes. But I don't care.

Some don't recognize older cars as Corvettes. Some probably have a superiority about their new car vs your old used one. Others probably simply don't wave, or are too preoccupied they don't see you waving.
It is one of those thing s I never worried too much about.

What drives me crazy is the blast of a horn at an intersection.
I drive many unusual cars so I get the acknowledgment in the form of a toot when I am assessing traffic. My reaction is that somebody is getting ready to hit me, so I don't have time to wave, just grab the steering wheel for life.

I wave, but I don't get out of shape if they don't wave at me. If that's the worst that happens in my day, I'm doing great!
And there have been times when I am checking the mirror, or gauges, or traffic, or some babe in a short skirt, and looking back I have a split-second glimpse of a Vette going by and waving, and it's too late to wave back. So just because you don't GET a wave does not mean you have been snubbed.

Some people buying late-model Vettes are just buying a "cool car".. they have no connection to Corvette heritage at all. In fact, many have no idea that a C1 is actually a Corvette.
I also wave at all old cars - and all Vettes. The one that shocked me was passing a 59 on a 2-lane road, no other cars in sight... and no wave-back??? Really?

I try to wave at every Vette I see. My experience is that I get more waves when driving the C2 and that includes motorcycles and other classic cars. Waves are rarely returned when driving the C7. It also seems that C7 owners are less likely to wave.

I'm pretty much happy to have two cars (C2 & C6) that are wave-worthy.
I wave at all Corvettes and pretty much any neat, usually older, car. I guess what I'm waving at is the driver of any non-appliance vehicle.

Not everyone knows, or cares about a wave. Lots of things going on when driving, you might wave 9 out of 10 times and catch crap about not waving on the 10th. It's a courtesy, a show of respect, not an obligation or law. It's worse when I hear someone complain about not getting a wave than actually not getting a wave.

In this part of rural Kentucky, you'll likely never see a Corvette, new or old.
If you want recognition, drive a pickup truck. Everyone here waves at you in your pickup truck but pass the same people in your car and nary a wave!

Many years ago, before four lane roads with medians, almost everyone waved, but with the proliferation of those roads, the wave has waned.
Dimming lights on them too.

SORRY but you must excuse a few-and hopefully just a few - for lack of taste

Hell - I've had plenty of C6s and a few C7s chase me for several stoplights just to wind down their power windows and give me a thumbs up when I'm driving the '61 and '63.
That more than makes up for the non-wavers....really -- of all the silly things to get miffed about. Whether or not some person acknowledges my car in traffic is hardly damaging to my self esteem....nor do I feel it makes them buttholes...

It's funny, I had a Jeep (Jeep people also wave) and it was basically the same thing - the people in the newer models seldom returned the wave, but the older model drivers almost always do.

I get a lot more waves in the C1 than in the C6. Not reading anything into it, and it's not a big deal. I figured out a long time ago that you can't control what other people do - you can only control what YOU do. Wave on, my friends.
