Default Protecting Frame From Overspray?

I have just completed painting my frame and it looks great. I will be putting the body back on before painting the body. I know overspray is ok according to NCRS but I don't want any. Years ago I saw a restored frame wrapped with Saran Wrap for protection. Any reason not to do this or other ways to keep frame clean for painting.

Best way is to paint the body off the frame. But wrapping it plastic wrap does work.

Saran wrap tears too easily, a $3 drop cloth from Walmart will do the whole frame.

Body paint on the frame will receive a deduct in NCRS or Bloomington Judging. The body was painted off the frame and assembled later.

The drop cloth idea is a good option.

What you want is the stretch wrap that movers/packers use. That stuff won't tear. Get a roll of it at HD.

Also, if the car is to be painted on a solid floor (as opposed to a grated downdraft booth), you could mask the perimeter of the body right down to the floor --a continuous skirt. Should add a lot of overspray protection.

I agree have used it many times, it will conform to any shape, also great for engine bay painting.

Engine bay painting on my 78 was the first time I became fully aware of the value of the foil. Transmission cooler lines, wiring harnesses, etc.
