Default What's Original?

There is no accepted definition of originality. Every marque defines it differently. Here's an article I recently wrote comparing Corvettes, Porsches and Ferraris.

The judging of originality is very different for each marque.

Agree =Original is the day a Corvette is made , but after years of wear, you can call a refreshed Corvette as a original restored Corvette if using original factory parts showing the factory logos on each part has or even a perfect part reproed if you cant tell the difference from the real part . You think cars of the 20 & 30 that are entered in concourse that are valued at millions use all original parts (NO) they may have original factory replacement part or reproduced parts (and they are still judged as original cars )!or are they off ? lying to the public.

I suppose it is all a matter of degree.

Even the high-dollar exotics get into questionable areas when they are rebuilt of composite parts.

I suppose that the ultimate in originality would require original fluids throughout the car, including the gas tank, original air in the tires, and all zeros on the odometer, if you want to stick the pendulum in the wall.

Interesting article.

Edit: good article.

Richard there is no such think as an all original car out there. If you put more gas in it or air in the tires or a new battery or replaces a light bulb for tail light or turn signal it is no longer original as it left the assembly plant where it came together at.
