do you realize that the 1599 tag being used as an example is not a original tag?

I posted the 1599 tag to provide an example of the basic format / layout of a 1955 Corvette VIN tag. This was the only one I could quickly put my hands on (since it was on Ebay) and I did not scrutinize it for authenticity.

I pointed out in the post that a correct VIN tag should have a raised border around the edge, and that the characters of the VIN should be stamped, not embossed.

Both of those characteristics are clear on the 1559 tag that I posted, and that was all I was trying to convey.

Please fell free to post a "correct" 1955 VIN tag to show our Spanish friends what a correct 1955 Corvette VIN tag looks like.

Is there anywhere you suggest getting a Chevrolet tag? is that possible?
Thanks again
That is a very murky area to dive into.

Reproducing VIN tags without proper authority is a violation of too many laws to count.

The easiest legal method would be to get a state issued replacement VIN tag for whatever state the car is being registered in.

Be aware that a state issued VIN tag hurts the value of the car, in many people's opinion.

And since this car is currently out of the country, the actual import (or re-import, as the case may be) of the car may also become an issue with this non factory VIN tag.

I would certainly check all of the legal issues carefully before returning the car to the US with that VIN tag in place.

Good luck with this.

Thank You, The same VIN number has been verified and was also found somewhere else on the chassis.

Understood. But be aware that the verification of the VIN on the frame does not make the reproduction of the VIN tag legal, at least in the US.

The correct font stamps are the easy part...many suppliers have them for both stamped and embossed.

Finding a blank tag that is undetectable from original is tough.

Whats the difference? Restamping a VIN tag is a Felony in the US for starters.

no one makes the correct font stamps for a 55 corvette. that being the case, the tag by classic is so close that very few can tell the difference. the new tag, screws and while we're in that area, the correct courtesy switch, would certainly help.

that would be up to the user... but in the real world happens all the time. Caveat emptor.
