Wow what a resurection! As stated before, you have a great wife. When you are @ Carlisle, stop over at the '63-'67 Stingray Registry on Sat and introduce yourself. Dennis

Hello All,The trip to Carlisle went well.We met new friends from the forum at the 63-67 registration booth I could have talked for hours.I found a lot of goodies at Carlisle, wheels and tires, power antenna and splash pans that hit the checking account hard.We have the dash in and everything works, anti freeze was added and the engine purrs like a kitty cat.The side pipes are the quiet ones from corvette america. The glove box is next in line.I hoping to tackle the windshield next week.

Hello All,This week we finished up the dash and all the wiring.I'm glad to be done with that. Those tight places seem to be getting harder to do, it was a lot easier when I removed the pedals it made life easier. The wiring is nice and neat under there. We also bought a insulation (heat barrier and sound deadner) kit from vettnuts. The kit came pre cut and marked where each piece goes nice stuff. The carpet is next and was ordered without backing from Al Knock we will see how that goes.Windshield was also installed this week

Dave - your car continues to look great. You most likely already know this, but don't be in a hurry to trim the carpet along the console. I have installed carpet in a '65 and a '66. I thought I had plenty of carpet along the console of the '65 but it came out a bit shorter than I thought it would. I nearly did the same thing on the '66 even though I was making a conscious effort to leave plenty.

Dave,

while the interior is still out, check your gauge lenses, they should be concave on all the dash gauges. only reason I ask is that it appears the clock lens appears opposite the rest of the dash. this is much easier to correct before the car is put all back together.

Hey Dennis,It does look like that, but they are the same. Thanks for looking things over for me because I'm trying to do the car correct as I can If you see any thing else give a shout. It funny about the clock when I got the car it had a 64 clock. The previous owner bought this car in 1968 and said he never changed the clock it a very early 65 production car so maybe it was a left over 64 clock.Do you know if GM did that? Also I found 64 carpet that was in it also.Inside the heater box was stamped June of 64 lots of other 64 stamps under car, cowl area.It did have disc brakes

Dave - one other thought about installing the carpet - this time on the driver side. While I used carpet from another source, the Al Knock carpet likely has a heal pad - a vinyl piece your heals rest on if you don't use floor mats. At the front of the heal pad towards the right side are very likely two dimples. I didn't realize what these are for when I was installing the carpet. That is, until I went to install the two screws for the gas pedal.

Doh - yes, after poking holes through two dimples, the screws that secure the base of the gas pedal go through these holes.

When I installed the second set of carpet (in the '66), I made the holes in the heal pad first, installed the gas pedal and worked from there.

I amaze myself when I'm doing a task and don't initially recognize the obvious. I'm not sure why, but I figure that I'm smarter than perhaps I really am.

Hello All, This week we got a little more done. The doors are put together, windshield chrome is done, radio side panels are re died,we had buy the left side because it was missing,it comes plain had to drill the mounting hole and cut a hole for the power antenna switch. The car goes for a alignment next week.I like to have the carpet in by then so we can button this project up. We are already looking for the next project who knows what that will be

Dave,
You're doing a beautiful job and are to be commended!! You said you wanted extra eyes looking for things. Nit picking but here you go. The switch that rotates the headlamps...the mounting ears are supposed to be inside the binnacle, not on the outside as you currently have it. Also, isn't the '65 steering wheel supposed to faux wood?? Again, great job. I know you're excited to get her back on the road.

Hi thanks for catching the position on the switch I'll get that changed. The steering wheel is the wheel that came with the car.I looking for a freeman wheel or a wheel that will fit my budget. This car is a very early 65!! is that a 64 wheel ? Please don't think Nit picking I'm not an expert by no means just having fun restoring old cars

This is nice alternative to stock. Real walnut wood and 14.5" diameter makes getting in and out a bit easier

Looking real nice. On the subject of the carpet at the center console what I did was place the console over the carpet before trimming it and run some masking tape to the bottom edge of the console to mark where it lays.
