Toms is about the only outfit still offfering IRS upgrade setups. Really nice stuff but the price is as brutal as second gear wheel hop.

I believe the whole set up of his best stuff, soap to nuts would run around $7000. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I saw 4500.00 pretty easily with a production center case and he claims to have a billet one available.

One IRS issue you pointed out is the ride height.
My car sits two inches low all the way around and I like it...
The half shafts are very close to level which leaves me almost no squat travel before things get ugly.
I can tighten the rear shocks and stop the squat but it rides horrible and produces zero traction on the street.
Right now I have the shocks loosened a couple clicks and the traction is impressive even on my garbage tires. Far better than any normal musclecar setup. Unfortunately, its squatting so hard the shocks are totally bottomed out.
I think I can come up with a setup that will work ok at the track but its going to take compromise on the street.

I think your Autofab solid setup could be the big picture.

I have seen where guys have dropped the control arm bump stops down 2 inches to keep the car from squatting too much, but I have always though that would really upset the car ...........

I agree. I'll be upset worse with a half shaft failure though.

My reduced ride height makes the situation worse. The really nice coil overs have a progressive bumper. I'm going to look over my travel with the spring disconnected and see what the options are.

Does the 340lb rear spring make the car noticably stiff for normal use?

I've run the extended stops and it does Ok at the track. Some folks have them go solid and stay there after the launch...but I used them to keep it from going too far over center. A little white she polish lets you know if they make contact and then adjust things from there.

I'd still add a stiffer spring to keep it from squatting too much and then control with shocks.

I have mine clamped, so it is a little buck-boardish......... not so bad that you worry about the car bouncing over though.

Detroit Eaton has a 305 lb 7 leaf for 240.00. They can de arch as required so I dont have to run the long bolts to set ride height.

Is this the hot ticket?

Detroit Eaton is the place to buy, no doubt about that.

Have you talked to their engineer about what you are trying to do ?

I asked for tech help and wasn't blown away with data. They said de arching a vette spring is extremely rare. I assume most people use long bolts.

Couldn't really figure out what spring I have. The say 7 leaf is heavy and 9 is light.

I never drove this car...but what you see went 9.77

Over the years there was a lot of experiments/adjustments (I have a large box full) lol

As I remember Tom foot braked this car right up against the 2000 convertor..1700 real seems right

The secret was always not to launch to severe...but have the drivetrain ready

Almost forgot....and the slicks HOT!

7 was the stiff one in the day...F41 option as I recall...but they are all so old now...re-arch/stiffen or Eaton

Buy that setup on Racingjunk!!

Got 2 passes today.
First launched at 2500 rpm bogged sputtered and farted to 8.91 1/8th mph at 85mph.
Second hit produced 2.01 60ft 12.64 at 111 mph 1/4 running through the clutch in third and fourth.
Rained out before I could attempt another lap.
I'm really impressed with the c2 chassis. Man it can hook.
I'd really like to keep working on it but it's time for the regular race car efforts.

Thanks
I think it was 8.19 and 89 mph 1/8th on the full pass.
I have a tricky clutch slipper setup that makes the numbers look weird.
It pulled so soft it couldn't spill a drink..lol.
327 was so happy with no load I had to stay in it even though i could smell clutch cooking!
I can make it fly with more runs but the track is really crowded and not friendly for testing.

I have a 330 lb/in fiberglass spring in my '65 - it hooks very well and is more comfortable on the street than the 7-leaf F40 rear spring.

Thanks
I've got a setup that looks ok at the track-just a tiny bit of squat.
I'm going to try backing off on the shock valving for street driving.

That fiberglass spring is probably a lot lighter too?
