Getting the old incorrect engine out and getting ready to break down the frame/suspension/etc. We think this engine is good but has not been run in 30 years. It is a '67 block.

New engine (prior to paint) and old. Going to dismantle the frame/suspension this next week. Gas tank was in good shape. Had some 30 year old gas in it.

Getting the frame stripped down and ready for sandblast. New springs and suspension coming from Corvette America (Top flight program gave 14% discount, in our case, and free shipping on first order).

Also, there is a good write up on here on how to replace the windshield. The only change I would note is to add spacers on the t-bolts and tighten the t-bolts down while you are installing the lower channel. Then take off the spacers when it is installed. Lots of soap applying as you go.

Are you sure it was originally a black car? It looks to me, based on the top of the dash, the way the center console was sprayed black (not the way the factory did it) that it was probably originally white.
I personally would replace the door panels, since both the vinyl and the carpet has been redone on them, but that's just me.

You may be right. However, the door jambs are black as is the underside of the trunk deck. So, we are not sure. Thanks.

Re: The original paint color.
We are trying to determine what color this car originally was. It is white now. The door jambs are black. Here is a picture of the convertible top cover showing that it was black underneath. The dash, up underneath the pad was white and that may have been the original color. Thoughts?

Using a right angle grinder with wire wheel on frame prior to sandblasting. The frame is nice. Got the B/W trans rebuilt and replaced the cracked case with a non cracked one.

Sandblasting frame (a terrible job but better in Feb than our blast furnace summer). Hit the bumper brackets and little steel covers that go between body and frame behind the front wheels. Looks like those were originally undercoated. Right? Also cut off old drag racing brackets. Will remove suspension and rebuild that plus the rear end. We plan to put everything back on the frame (engine, trans, mufflers, gas/brake lines, etc) prior to dropping the body back on (unless that is not how it should be done.)

I had pretty much everything but the mufflers on the frame prior to setting the body on it.
I even had the steering column on and fished the body through that as it was setting down.

Your's looks great. Those stainless headers are really fine also. The one we are working on evidently had some drag racing time also but the rear end ratio now is about a 3.08 or so. The engine in this one is a correct 1962 340hp engine w correct casting dates. It is not the engine that came in the car. The owner's deceased husband, an industrial engineer, had the block pad stamped with the correct numbers. This was done about 15 years ago. We are going back pretty much stock but with an aftermarket a/c system, better insulation, etc. This couple also owned a '61 Corvette. It was all to pieces but the frame and body were good. We sold that one. These old solid axle cars are sure bringing some $. We hope to get the frame primed today (2/18/16) and then will pull off the suspension and redo that.
