Hey Mike,

I'm just happy they're going to be put to good use on a great looking project!

Much better there rather than sitting on my shelf!

Looks great. Takes me back to when I listened to my son saying how his fingers hurt from sanding multiple coats of Slick Sand on my '62. Your project is coming along quite well.

On a side note, I have picked up a trunk lid to mount the luggage rack on that I picked up from you. I have had it media blasted, but now am thinking of waiting to have it painted until my painter starts shooting my '55 210 (which is also going to be black). Might end up mounting the rack on my original trunk lid.

Will continue to watch your updates!

Mike

Mike: Glad to hear from you. You are going to look "Route 66" pretty soon with that luggage rack. I have a '53 210 (also black) that my aunt bought new. It has only 54000 miles. Mike

Blocking Slick Sand. Epoxy (black) by the end of the week and we will block that also. Should be pretty straight at that point. Will paint the jambs then also. Will then put some items back on the car (windshield for one; get it started and running; and will do some more before the final paint. Wheels for Corvette Central do allow the hub caps to fit (old incorrect wheels were too small for the hubcaps) Went through Ebay and got a better deal on those wheels than dealing directly with CCentral

Final coat of black epoxy primer. Car has been blocked with 180 and then wet sanded and is pretty straight. We will put it partially back together (windshield, get motor running, car operating, etc) before blocking this with 400 and 600 then applying final black paint.
Not too far from the finish. We started Jan 9, '16 and have about 450 hours in it to date.

Well, the 500 hours we were shooting for is out the window. That was a good number to aim for but it takes more time (at least for us) to do this work. Probably will end up at 625-650. We started Jan 9 this year.

Windshield in; bead blasting many original parts; a/c going in; bead blast, paint/clear sill plates-not correct but saves some $.

you asked about the breather in the lifter gallery mine still has it but the breather exit in the block is caped off. I removed the pick up in the galley and plan to run valve covers with vents just wondering why you asked that question.

At that time I did not know about the breather that must be in the lifter gallery if the valve covers have no vents. My buddy has several so we now have the breather. Tks.
