Default What's it worth!

So I have known this car was around and even located it about 1 1/2 ago, but never could get the owner at home. So today was my lucky day. After talking to the guy he hinted that he might be willing to sell it, but like everyone who has owned one for 30 years it's a tough decision. I would like to really go after this car, but I'm unsure of the value so here is what I know.

2 owner 1966 true BB 427 car with a nom. Car has had a repaint, comes with hard top, leather blue interior, non original shifter and I believe the transmission is changed but do not know yet. This car had 4.56 gears but have been changed to 3 something. Radiator has been redone. Heater core is busted, and by passed. It looks to me like a lot of it is correct even though it has the nom. It does run. I could never afford a real matching #BB so I'm thinking this would be a real nice driver. Paint is probably 8 out of 10 from what I can tell. I don't believe it to be wrecked. I know I don't have a ton of pics, but this is very nice and what would be the ball park price for one of these assuming it's nice and no frame rust or bird cage rot?

We will need more pics, interior, under the car, etc. For now, if you know, which horsepower is it...390 or 425? I suppose it's more likely someone would have added the 4.56 rear to the higher horse engine but who knows. No PB seen, any PS or other options like Tele column (edit: looking through the windshield it looks like the column is the standard model), Power windows? I like Nassau Blue but any idea if it's the original color? Any major body issues noticed?

If you can get that for 45 you are lucky. Right color, looks good and Mid year prices keep going up every year. Spring is coming and it will easily be a 50-55k car in a heart beat. I have always noticed that right after BJ and Mecum Auctions prices start going up and people start buying. I dont see many BB midyears out there in the 40s.

I'm just thrown off on a nom. I would imagine if everything is nice and no major issues I'm thinking low 40's but I don't want to insult the guy. I'm gonna try hard for this one.

I think that maybe 90% of these BB cars are NOM. If you need an original, numbers, documented big block, expect to pay 100K and up. On the West Coast, the car in question would never be in the 40's.....it would be 60k and up, minimum.

I too would think 45 to 50k. 4.56 grs ! No wonder it's nom.

That was my initial guess as well.

I bet that you could simply sneeze on the accelerator and that car would roast the tires with 4.56 gears.

Really not enough information/photos to venture a solid guess. If it can be determined to be an original BB car and the car is in real solid, driver condition with decent paint, decent interior, everything works, reasonably clean underneath - then I think anything under $50k is not unreasonable and a good deal. My coupe is off-frame restored, NOM, original 427/425, original side pipe car and I would consider something in the mid to upper 50s to be reasonable for it (but it's not for sale).

Your smart not to get hung up on original numbers - too many frauds out there for way too much money. Easy way to get ripped off.

Thanks that is kind of what I'm looking for. I know I have more details to get, but you don't want to start climbing all over a guys car when your lucky just to get to see it. I didn't want to push the issue because I'm the one that knocked on his door and he was nice enough to let me in.

Just an update on this car. I stopped yesterday and talked to the owner for the 3rd time. I think I talked the car up so much I have got him excited about getting it back on the road. He was telling me he thinks he will get the registration renewed and get it back on the road in a few weeks. Not what I wanted to hear, but I grinned and told him I hope he does get to enjoy it again. He assured me he has my number, but if all I do is get him motivated to get the car going again that will be a positive. Just not as positive as me buying it, but I can wait. Now if he doesn't get it out this year I will feel I'm getting closer, but who knows. I just enjoy finding them and talking to people.
