1967 L89 Corvette Discovered
A pretty cool story that just broke yesterday.
Ray Sinor, former NCRS Judging Chairman, was hired by Leake Auctions to review the 40 Corvettes being offered in the Tom Falbo collection which is being sold in February.
Sinor has confirmed that one of Falbo's 19 1967 Corvettes that is being sold has the L89 Aluminum Heads option!
The car will be sold at no-reserve in Okalahoma City next month. Here is more info about the discovery:

The guys that can afford this kind of car are not affected by stock market ups and downs. They are widely diversified.

No mention of original documentation or finding a build sheet. It appears to be a restored car - kind of strange a guy with 40 Corvettes would not know what he had considering the aluminum heads and chrome valve covers. Maybe more to the story than they are publishing right now.

I wonder how much more valuable the car is if original to the engine. The L89 alone is obviously most of the value. Don't know if the Mecum L89 last year was NOM or not.

I will wait to see what Roy may tell us!
because this guy is throwing out his endorsement claim!
I could see a casual passing comment- oh aluminum heads, maybe its an L89 and then a greedy investor type runs amuck!

Some of you guys
Do good detective work! that was fast- 2008 uhm! I think with computer snipping, and saving files, it is hard to pull one over on the community, unless you are very well connected with ready to endorse friends that will back up the bull!

If roy sinor did in fact vouch for that car's authenticity it would carry a lot of weight in my book. An NCRS top flight would help too as it looks restored so a lot of the originality is gone.

Did I read the story wrong, or isn't the engine in the car numbers matching? Also, was it not actually Roy Sinor who made the discovery, but his evil twin Ray?

The engine block may be original, but anyone can change heads since they are not number matching to the block/car. Dennis

Absolutely. I was just observing that, in the absence of evidence to the contrary, and assuming Mr. Sinor was present to verify the claim, the numbers are matching and codes are correct. If I were a prospective buyer, nothing short of the original sales paperwork and full owner history would satisfy me.
