Fin valve covers
I noticed that there are 7 fin valve covers for sale on the forum. Some have a casting flaw some do not. The covers on my 65 have the flaw.
Which style were original, and which are more desirable??

The flaw began appearing during the '66 model year. The (damaged) GM mold, run back in the day by the Lester Company, is now owned by Paragon, and they are still producing valve covers from it, with four different levels of handwork/cleanup of the flaw.

As mentioned, the 7 fin covers without the line (flaw) through the o are the more desirable and bring a considerably higher price. For MANY, MANY years, service replacement covers with the line were available from Chevy parts dept for dirt cheap (about $25), and now, even those in excellent condition are bringing good prices. BUUUUUUUUUUT, the line is correct for mid-66 and 67 engines. A correct 65 engine would not have the line.
