Nice car on the surface, what lurks underneath? Wrong alternator, never saw a alternator with two groves on a 365hp. Wrong hood, wrong heater *****, rims, ...engine? You asked.

Take a close look at the driver's side B-pillar....looks like some rust blisters pushing up through the shiny black paint. Definitely need to inspect the birdcage very carefully.

Not a good price for a car to bring back to original, for sure.
However, as a fun driver it MIGHT be okay. Bring a knowledgeable inspector (not a buddy or antique car guy, but a NCRS-type of C2 guy).
There was effort put into the paint job, and it looks great, but there may be signs of dodgy attention to detail that are more telling (lipstick on a pig, is one way of saying it).
For example, look at the next to last picture showing the scarred-up steering column, and rust on the dash escutcheon plate. If you took the dashboard out to clean it up (the gages look done), why would you ignore this detail? This may infer that other details may have been overlooked. Why do the HVAC controls use incorrect (67?) *****?
Why is there no topside picture of the engine/engine bay? Correction: I did not see the link to the 83 pictures.
Pretty car, but proceed with caution.

Here is the listing where he paid $45,900 for the car:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1964-Chevrol...-/172010260435
Although the car looks decent, there are a few things that are definitely not off of a 64. I also always hesitate in buying a car of someone that just bought a few months ago. In this case less than 2 months ago. I hear his story but I still question. I would say 4 out of 5 times someone who sells a car within 2 months saw something that he did not like and wants to offload quickly so if you decide to go look at, make sure you are just a bit more detailed in your inspection. It could be an incredible car!

Thanks for the replies folks, yeah I've decided to pass on this one. I'm looking for a Nice Driver but it will be driven often. I don't care if it isn't NCRS or even close as long as it's a nice car.
Thanks again
Thanks again

If you look at the photos you will see that the hood emblems are stickers. He must have removed the decals after the purchase. Also the pictures used are from both the original Ebay listing and his own pictures. I've checked both and looks like its been driven 310 miles since he purchased it. Just my observation anyway.

Great Street Car !!! Why the grinding marks underneath that serial badge plate??? Did someone grind the rivets off another plate????? Check the frame real good as the 64 frame from a snowbelt car usually will be weak. I would be leary of this one. There are too many cars for sale today...be patient and wait for one that the owner has had for a long time. Good Luck...Steve

I always wondered what the 17" rally's would look like on one. Pretty sweet.
