Reward of $10,000 to help find a 67 BB vin 194377S116049
I am sure that got your attention... as it did mine.
In my search for cars on Craigslist for my "opinions" thread. I saw this listing... anybody know anything?
1967 Corvette 427 - $10,000 Reward - $10000 (TULSA OKLAHOMA)
If you get the $10K, buy me a steak dinner!

1967 Corvette 427 - $10,000 Reward - $10000 (TULSA OKLAHOMA)
I was the original owner of this 1967 Corvette Coupe 427, my grand parents bought it for me as a graduation gift in the fall of 1966. In my third year of medical school it was necessary and very regrettable that I had to sell it to keep up with my school tuition and living expenses. I have since established a prosperous medical practice and during the past 5 years I have been intensively seeking to regain ownership of this particular vehicle.
My research has determined that the car has had 3 different owners since I sold it in 1972. The trail has led me to the Tulsa Oklahoma area, the last known whereabouts of this vehicle was that it was sold several months ago on an internet website (TheBidClub.com) that specializes in selling project cars and fixer uppers. The photo in this ad is taken from their website and would most likely represent the cars most current appearance.
The proprietors of the website said it was sold to two brothers from the Tulsa Oklahoma area, their last name was Wilson, they would not reveal any more information beyond that. I have contacted all the local restoration, body shops and specialty garages within the Tulsa radius without any success.
The car represents a great deal of sentimental and well as collectible value and I very much want to own it again. I will pay a $10,000 finder's fee to anyone that can provide information that will result in direct contact with its current owners. If you own this vehicle, I will pay you a significant premium above what you paid to purchase it.
The vehicle is a 1967 Corvette Coupe, 427 435 hp tri-power engine, 4 speed transmission, Tuxedo Black with Red interior. Serial Number: 194377S116049. Its current condition appears to be rather run down and in need of restoration according the last known photo that was taken a few months ago.
Please, only respond if you have direct information pertaining to the whereabouts of this specific vehicle or its current owners. I am NOT interested in purchasing any other vehicle except this specific 1967 Corvette. I am not looking for a similar Corvette, but only this exact, specific 1967 Corvette.

If I owned that car I would be reluctant to contact the person looking for it.
What if in actuality it had been stolen? There goes my many thousand dollars that I had honestly paid for it.
Sure , it would be nice for the PO to get his stolen car back, but than I would be the second victim.
Such a moral decision... What would you do?

If he could twist that guy's arm for the answer to ONE more question, it should be "Were the Wilson brothers local to Tulsa or from another state?" If they were from in or near Tulsa it should not be impossible to track them down.

The car wasn't stolen from him... he sold it.
The site he says it was last seen IS a site that brokers stolen/totaled/insurance claim cars. I would think that in his search, the VIN would have come up stolen... no?

And lets be for real..he claims to be the original owner of a black/red 435 coupe with ps, sidepipes, tele and bolt ons...nothing like putting out one of the most desirable 67's to get attention. (yes no sidepipes on the car pictured)
another thought is that its a buildup for the car when finished...the ad could have been written by the current owner so it will be out there when the car shows up for sale.

Sorry, but I’m always a bit skeptical when I see an ad like this.
The good doctor neglected to say the car was sold by a salvage company – most likely with a salvage title. His description was a company “that specializes in selling project cars and fixer uppers.” It’s hard to believe a salvage company wouldn’t provide the buyer’s information, especially if they were offered $10K.
Also, the pic in his ad is puzzling. I don’t recall ever seeing an original side pipe car with them removed and standard rocker moldings installed.

I have a lot of trouble believing this without googling the good Dr.
If the salvage company wanted the money they could always approach the "Wilsons" first without compromising anyone. If the Wilsons want to talk, the auction company gets paid. Or the guy who called. Simple. Fishy. Yet could be true. If he is that close to making contact the public ad would seem to be overkill.
PS- the touching story about the grandparents spending all they had on the car reads like bunk. So does the successful Doctor schtick. My wife is a Physician and most (but not all) of the ones I know are not waving their name around so arrogantly.
I'm guessing the Nigerians have dreamed up a new angle.

I'll admit when I first saw the post I accepted it at face value. But something is starting to smell funny.

I still want to know how the grandparents bought an April '67 car in the fall of '66.
