Need help identifying Stant oil caps
I recently bought a box of old Corvette parts, and in it were 3 Stant oil fill caps. One is chrome, and the other two are painted steel.
They're all typical of the Stant caps used on big blocks and aluminum LT-1 valve covers, and all three have the "S" stamped, square back rivet, found on original caps. What is different is that they also have the Stant logo stamped into them. Beside the rivet on all three, is the Stant Manufacturing Company circular "SMC" logo.
I'm use to seeing the "SMC" logo on gas caps, but I've never seen it on an oil cap before.
Does anyone know (are you out there JohnZ?) if these caps were used in production, or were they something Stant sold through auto parts stores?
Thanks

The chrome one would be correct for 65+ Chevelle, Impala or any other BB with chrome valve covers. As John said the black one is correct for 65-69? Vettes. Not sure on the middle one

all are original caps. The middle one is an original BB 66/67 cap that's lost its finish. Dished rivet on underside is correct for at least up to 68. The S and the SM are correct for GM applied caps. The square S is typically found ONLY on 65 396 cars.
