Finally, After 2.5yrs. The '62 is Back Together!
Hello Guy's and Gal's,
Today is the day that the Corvette has made it's way back!
Many of you remember this Corvette was stolen from a Bed and Breakfast approximately 2.5 years ago, and several of you assisted my wife and I with "getting the word out."
13 days later we were able to recover our car. Again, it was a member here on this forum that provided the "key" to the Corvette's recovery!
It's been a lot of work, but persistence, plus a lot of help from other members here, allowed us the opportunity to put the car on Display at the Sacramento Autorama today!
Still have the hardtop to do as we never did recover the (original)hardtop that I had just restored, but I'll get it done soon.
Pat

Looks stunning....
You should write a human interest article about the whole saga of original purchase, the theft, the car's recovery and now its resurrection. I bet a few of the industry rags would pick it up and would certainly get some traction with classic car folks...

It was stolen from the B&B my wife and I were staying at in Pacific Grove CA. Year was 2013.
This was during the Rolex Motorsports Reunion held in Monterey and the surrounding areas.
Gravity played a key role in the theft as they pushed it from the elevated driveway, and then rolled it downhill for two blocks where they had the opportunity to get it started.
We, as well as several other individuals "saturated" the market (computer, television, radio, newspapers, and any other means of social networking), with news of the theft.
Fortunately a member of this forum played a key role in the recovery of the car after his uncle sent him a pic of Corvette left out on the street in San Jose, CA.
I received a phone call 13 days after the theft from the Uncle (Richard), and determined that it was indeed our car.
We went down that very night and picked it up. It had been pretty well beat up and abused, but none the less, we got the car back!
The thieves never were caught, and we never did recover the hardtop. I have another hardtop now, but still need to restore it. Also lost an extinguisher, and a car cover.
So, I took the opportunity to completely rebuild the car.
And with most projects, "project creep" sets in, but what better time than the present to upgrade a few things.
I picked the car up back from body and paint in July of 2015, and spent the next 6-7 months assembling & restoring the car. Every single nut and bolt was touched and attended to.
I still haven't actually driven the car aside from pulling it into the car trailer and back out for exhaust, and now the car show.
This forum, and most importantly, members of this forum, became a tremendous asset when looking for assistance on several portions of the build.
Some truly very good (and knowledgeable) people on this forum!
Pat
