They are out there if you look. My 1967 327/350 HP car has a 4-speed (no 3-spd offered for 350 HP engine), but around 400 or so 3-spds were installed with the300 HP base engine for 1967.
I have personally seen a few over the years.

They're out there, I've known a few different 3 speed cars, but I've never owned one.
A friend of mine is doing a body off on a red 67 327/300 3 speed coupe. According to the tank sticker, the options on the car were white walls, AM/FM, Speed Minder speedometer, headrests and shoulder harnesses.
Another friend of mine had a 67 Marlboro Maroon 3 speed convertible, in the late 70's. Also back in the 70's, there was a guy who use to show a 63 340 horse 3 speed convertible, here in South Jersey, and there was a Lynndale 67 3 speed air coupe for sale at the Atlantic City Auction, about three years ago.
Not a mid-year, but I have a customer in Queens NY, that has a 69 3 speed convertible.

This is a pic of my '67 original 3-speed when I bought it. It was ordered with a base engine, 3-speed, P/S, P/B, vinyl hardtop, positraction, speed warning, WSW (no radio). Who knows what went through people's minds when they ordered these cars?
In '67, the Saginaw cast iron 3-speed was fully synchronized in all forward gears.

The guy that bought my '65 new was a little less than 30 years old. His first new car was a '58 Ford, standard shift with a 300/352 engine. He then moved to a '61 Impala that was a 350/348 with four speed. By this time, he had picked up a wife and kid, bought a house and needed transportation to go to work. Bye-bye Impala.
He wanted a Corvette For his transportation. His dealer found the car way over in eastern Kentucky in the Applacahians. Prestonburg, Ky. Small dealership. Probably a stock order as the car had zero options. He bought it. Drove it to work and back to the National Guard Armory about four miles down the road for seven years and then sold it to me.
So, this is what one person was thinking.
PS. The Impala is still around. Belongs to a good friend of mine and is super sharp.

My 67 Camaro had a 6-cyl with 3 speed column shift IIRC...

Yup. A good friend and former fellow club member here ( retired and living in Nipomo now) has a '67 327/300 convertible with the 3 spd.

Weird shift pattern. I don't know if I could get used to 1st being in the location of 2nd gear. They should have made 'Reverse' where 4th would normally be located.

Weird only for the younger crowd. The shift pattern on a Corvette three speed is the same as most, if not all three speed transmissions from the 1920's on up.

Being used to a 4spd, when I drove my friends 65 3 spd I kept wanting to start out in reverse! Kept reminding myself, it's only a 3 spd.

I didn't first learn to drive a car with a BW T10 or a Muncie box........it was either three on the column or three on the floor (surplus WW2 Jeep). Learned how to "speed shift" with these simple patterns as well.

The other car was a 1941 Ford. Someone had changed the gearshift to the left hand side of the steering column, I guess so they could keep a better grip on their lady friend. That was back in the day of "necker *****".
I put a full race flathead in the Ford. Didn't look like much but it would fly.
The Model A Fords and the Ford-Ferguson tractor I learned to drive on both had the traditional old shift pattern. Even my first car. A 1951 Crosley.

I can't remember the last time I saw a Simca...wow.
Somebody at Old Town last night had a 1952 AllState - still with 6 volt electrics and original motor...in unbelievable shape, original paint and upholstery. A real time capsule.
First one I'd seen in prob 40 years... Not many old timers there knew what it was.
