Are there performance advantages to the tri-Y setup over normal full length headers?

Melting Slicks
Have you considered pairing cylinders 1-5, and 3-7 to avoid the successive firing sequence of 5 & 7?

the problem with off the shelf is they never fit the way you want them to,, if your looking at the block huger headers you might as well use stock manifolds the are horrible for flow,, I have proof,, , plus they are a heat sink ,, yes a little extra work but well worth it ,, each engine likes different configurations,, there are some nhra stock eliminator guys that I built a few sets for swear by them for that little extra gain in horse power,, plus using this in the corvette chassis helps for pipe routing to the stock location,, also I will be doing a stainless exhaust as well ,, the stock stuff is restrictive as hell ,,stay tuned

yes I have and was my original plan but it would turn into a lot of extra bends and not enough room plus the more bends you add it will build restriction ,if this was a open race header I would have gone the extra but since it will have exhaust ,you might gain some

I had a set of headers built for my 69 by the guy, Calvin Elston, that brought the tri y design to NASCAR. He says any car revving less than 8000 rpm's would benefit from tri y's. Also says the most important part of the header is first 12 inches and includes port match. Says most exhaust ports are too large. Nice job on those headers. You are doing the right thing there for your cars performance.

I have Doug Thorley headers on my '64 and they are very nice. While mine are not the Thorley "Tri-Y", those aren't the pipes that Doug joins in his designs. And he's been doing "tri-Ys" for a long time.
