My wife sold her '66 Sting Ray coupe (auto, full. power, air, headrests) for $1600 in 1974, although I cautioned her "It''ll be worth four or five grand in a few years". She wanted a new Camaro, saying "No way this used Corvette will go up that much!".
I directed her to a Firebird because they were holding value better than Camaros. Her special-ordered dark blue Esprit with white interior, white vinyl top and 15" honeycomb wheels DID sell well above Camaro prices a couple of years later. And some poor '74 Trans Am buyer got the 14" honeycombs and tires that were delivered on her car!
My revenge? About a decade later I was able to inform her that the buyer of her Corvette had just sold it for $12,000.

Some folks are soooo stereo-typically predictable.
In my experience folks who have the need to brag about themselves on line, be it supposed physical attributes, alleged net worth, or "vaporware" job experience are attempting to compensate for one kind of "shortcoming".... or another. Just a sad attempt to appear "cooler on line"
This video pretty much says it all about those types. A couple of you may recognize your behavior patterns herein!
Enjoy!

I don't now how much they are going up... but they certainly don't last long. I check craigslist, ebay, and about a dozen other online sources. Private sale cars don't seem to stick around very long... one, two weeks maybe unless its REALLY overpriced.
A lot of the cars I have called on have already been given offers by some of the big houses... Mershons' for one. Some cars I've looked at (and passed) are already on their website.
The only ones that seem to stick around longer are green cars, and cars that didn't make it out of the 70s without radical "customization".

You have to be in the right place at the right time to score a #2-3 matching numbers car for the $45K. Maybe a '64 coupe. Most cars that I see in the $38-50K are not original engines, had color changes, ect. Dealers are paying $40K and asking $59-69K for them.

Every time I get somebody 'lusting' after my '63 coupe its just more incentive to hang on to it. There is prob a 'magic number' out there that would see it on its way to a new owner -- but it'd have to be one heckuva 'stupid money' number...

There is a nice clean driver quality, matching numbers 66 vert right here on the forum for 40K. They are out there you just have to search for them and be willing to do some minor cosmetic work if needed. The picky guys looking for a nice restoration, usually don't have a choice and pay well over 60K for a SB car or 100K plus for a BB car. You're right, base driver matching numbers 63-64's can be had for 45K or less. Example, I just paid 39K for a nice white on black matching numbers 365HP 64 vert with 2 tops but it needs some minor cosmetic work and a few engine parts replaced to be a really nice all original car.

40k for anything near original looking and is a decent driver is getting hard to find. Im sure there are some, but it aint easy. In 5 yrs youll probably kill to get a driver for 50. I toyed with selling my 65 BB coupe ( driver), but I know ill regret it long after I blow the money on something else. Most cars are super nice or complete turds. Nice middle of the spectrum cars .....they aint alot of them for sale for under 40 . Not that ive seen.

Gas is cheap & Economy is good.
So yep. Everything is on the rise.
Maybe Trump or Hillary can fix it. I'm looking for a C1, C2 & a winter home... but not buying now cause everything's on a high... the C1 might still happen tho if I can find the right one...
