Default Starter date codes

Does anyone know the difference or which starter date code is correct? I'm in search of a correct starter for my car, I've found the date code I need. My question is, the date stamp has no spaces between the characters. Example 5L12. I'm used to seeing date codes with spaces between the characters. Example 5 L 12. Which one is correct.

Thanks,
Dan

The ones I've seen have spaces. My NCRS 66 judging manual shows spaces.
