I'm not sure why but when I came across this model on eBay I was speechless. The fact someone would take the time and effort to make this model amazes me. This is a very powerful car in more ways than one. Not sure why but this really put a smile on my face.

A local guy who came by our cruise-in Saturday night had a mustang he did same thing to, down to beer bottles, doritos chips on seats, rust, and surfboards! Extremely detailed, everybody was amazed by amount of detail. He claimed that it only took 5 days to make it, and he sells them for $1500 (supposedly).

I used to have neighbor that did that with various plastic (Revell, AMT,etc), models.

He would add rust, dents, rain streaks down the paint from the chrome body strips on weathered paint, etc.

He won a lot of awards from county fair diorama displays and such with his models.

he simply did it as a hobby, to make a typical 1/25 scale model, look authentic as you would find a car on the road or parked behind a barn. He was master of the Paasche airbrush.

Ahhh the art of "weathering". This is very normal in the modeling world.

My Cousin and I each got one of those for Christmas mid 50's. Ours were originally white and very cool. Often wished it would have survived my childhood.

It was a hot trend for a while in the street rod/hot rod world too but it seems to have calmed down a little bit now.

Great job on that die cast though.
