1961 speedometer face
Is the clear face(with MPH numbers) on a 61 speedometer plastic or glass. I have a plastic replacement from Corvette Central that is pretty poor quality. I don't know what the original was. help please.

A few years ago I purchased a speedometer face from Trim Parts and the quality was excellent. At the time I was looking to make a set of white face gauges for my '59 and I ran into a Trim Parts salesman at Carlisle. He helped me get a face plate with no paint in the numbers so I could paint them black.

My original '61 gauges are plastic faced and a little tatty.....could use polishing.
What exactly is the quality issue with the repros ?
