Headlight Y-stop adjustment
I'm fudging around with my headlights and find that the headlights on the passenger side are aimed too low, Both headlight bucket adjusters are adjusted to their limit trying to get the bulbs 'up'.
My best guess is the headlight need to be rotated another 1/16 or 1/8 to get the beam up. Since the bulbs are already at the max adjustment if I rotate the buckets too far I have plenty of adjustment to get the beams down.
Here is my question...
Can the Y-stop be adjusted while the motor [and hood] are still in place. I have NOT studied the car [car is not where I am] and maybe its adjustment will be obvious once I stick my head in there but figured quizzing my Corvette Brothers on this might give me a head start. TY

The 'Y' stop adjustment has a mark on it where it needs to be slid onto the partially splined pivot shaft for the headlight bucket in a specific clocked position....which then allows for all the adjustment you need. IF this 'Y' adjustment is off in its design position too much...you run out of bolt length very easily.
The factory assembly manual (AIM) shows this in detail.
The headlight motor will need to be removed and then you will be able to manually set the door to a point and then re-install the motor and check it when it is under power.
The 'Y' adjustment needs to go on just like this.

I'm getting confused here, I want the assembly to rotate 'open' just a skinch more [pointing the headlights towards the sky]
All I should have to do is scre IN the stop nut on the Y stop maybe 1/16 of an inch ...right?
I dont have to reindex the whole Y stop? [which would also change the closed location as well, which I don't want to change]
What am I misunderstanding here?

Yes, you can adjust the Y stops in situ.
I think the somewhat ambiguous wording of your first post threw some off - it did me.
With the headlight fully open, screw in the bolt which is up against the stop.
The head of the bolt contacts the stop. That'll allow more rotation of the headlight bucket.
