You're Doing a Public Service
by merely driving your corvette. Allowing the general public to get a rare glimpse of a beautiful and historic true American sports car. And you don't even charge a fee! Its all about giving back ;-)

When I get stopped at a gas station or elsewhere with my C1/C2 I take pains to explain about the car to admirers. My favorite thing is to ask kids what happened to the headlights on my C2. Their eyes go all-wide when they see the headlights rotate open.
That's fun...

I agree also but, Too many accidents due to idiots on cell phones texting, so nowadays it's more scary taking them out for a ride. It's a shame.

Bruce, Well stated above. And unfortunately very true.
I remember I was out on s Sunday afternoon driving in the left lane of a two lane road, and a guy was tailgating me, and I could see that he had his friends in the car and was doing everything else except paying attention to his driving.
So I Moved to the right lane to let him pass.
He passed me and within 30 seconds rear ended the car in front of him (A new Mercedes) that was stopped at a red light.
So that could have been me rear ended by that idiot.
I also steer clear of the ladies that are putting make up on while they are driving.
It really takes the fun out of driving our classes.

I get so tired of people 'edging' up to me my rear end at stop lights while looking down in their lap at their d@mn cell phones -- they clearly haven't a clue about what fixing a C1/C2 costs. Even better when I am on a steep hill, feathering the clutch to move out without rolling back into them.

I don't think anyone drives their 55 Corvette more then we do going to car shows and ( I never have it judged) it's the people asking questions is what make it enjoyable to own and drive. You can see all the states stickers we've been to on our tear drop trailer even going to NY, going to NCRS Nationals meets before we dropped out.

Only once I entered it in the 2005 NCRS National we attended because they were honoring 1955 Corvettes 50th year . We drove there just as you see it , we pulled the tear drop trailer there while other 55 's were trailer there We took the bubble top off for judging and put the soft top up. Got zero points for the wire wheels and radio tires but the 55 was so correct and original it still got a top flight award anyway.

2023 C2 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
St. Jude Donor '20-'21-'22-'23-'24
This elderly lady, who had to be in her mid to late 80's, walked slowly up to my car using her cane to help her walk. When she got to my car, she asked, "How do you get that rumbling sound? Do you have glass packs or a cam?" My jaw dropped and, for a moment I was totally speechless. Turns out she was a car "guy". Lived her whole life in CA and owned Corvettes and other muscle cars. She also owned a Porsche but got rid of it because she didn't like the way it rode.
What a hoot!

Drove mine to work Monday, and I do as much as I can. Then again, if I'm not taking the Corvette, I have to take the "new" car - my 1967 Chevelle.
