Default Searching for a car by vin number

Ok team here is my dilemma, I completed an off the frame on a 1965 convertible back 20+ years ago but like many of us old dogs when we had our first child money was tight and I had to sell it. I was trying to find the location of the car today without much luck. I have the vin number but as you all know they are to short for the newer databases that really only go back until 1981. So does anyone know of a database for the old cars with short vin numbers like ours? Or for that matter know of any other way to locate this car?

Have you tried the C1/C2 Registry?

Thanks! I was not aware of the registry and I registered my two vettes while I was there. My old 65 was not there but I will keep looking.
