Back when I bought my car it was all messed up and someone had ran wire through the bolt hole on the kick panel to tie it to the carpet I got the drivers side repaired but never could get the passengers side right. Then when I gutted my interior last year way down in the corner was a small screw that was preventing it all from coming together. Once I removed it all was well.

I would love to add something more but that picture shows it well. Be careful at the other end of that vinyl tube trim and don't cut it to short or you can't tuck it under the dash cap.

Mine are aftermarket radio ones. I have it over slightly. I never cut down the excess material.

That is correct. The screw in the picture only holds the kick panel to the body. Does not go throught the sill plate. The sill plate sits on top of the windlace. The sill plate is held in place by the five(?) screws that are underneath the door when closed.
