Default Is this part from my 62 corvette?

I found this in my drain oil pan. No idea where it came from! Almost has to be 1962 Corvette or 1941 Ford, but I don't think it is Ford. Probably from draining but could have just "dropped" in there. It is 9/16" across and about 3/4 from the end of the shaft to the tip of the cone.

I've built several engines and never have I seen a part like that internally.

It's not from the Corvette, maybe the Ford. Looks like something to do with the window mechanism if I had to guess. That must have dropped into the oil pan, no way that came out of the motor

How about the T-10 transmission or the rear end? We only drained the trans, but had the rear out and completely apart. Maybe stuck in the goop in the drain pan longer than I thought.

I've never seen a piece that resembles that except for the splined end looks like door hardware.

Kinda looks like an end for brake shoe adjuster. Done any brake work lately?

Did redo the brakes and some new wheel cylinders but can't imagine how it would have gotten into the drain pan. Guess I need to pull the wheels and see if they are all there. I does look about the right size. Would the shaft be splined?

If the car's running okay, just be happy no damage was done on the mystery item's journey!

One end is adjustable, with threads, and the other end is fixed. I'm thinking from a manufacturing point of view the center piece is just a tube. One end is then threaded and the other has a pressed in piece. This may be the pressed in piece and because it is normally fixed to the end of the tube it be easy to miss on installation.

MYSTERY SOLVED: It is great to have a young helper with a good memory. It is from my 1941 Woodie brakes. A wheel cylinder piston disintegrated and this is the fitting that connected the piston to the shoe. Replacement is on the car. Too many projects going at the same time.

The picture is for you GM guys who can still appreciate a good FORD.

THANKS TO EVERYBODY FOR SUGGESTIONS!

I agree

What vehicle was the brake work done on? Look up the brake adjuster on line and see if it matches?

Did you use the same drain pad for the brake work?

Phil

Sorry about the pic of the "other make". I know this is a Corvette forum. Next week it goes to a new owner, after 40 years in my garage. Corvette interest started in 1993 when my wife won the Give-away car at Carlisle.
