Default 66 Vette carburetor

Want to thank everyone who responded to my thread about my air vent tube. I found out why my air vent tube was not on the same plain as the tube at the bottom of the air cleaner. The air vent tube was from a 327, 300 hp engine. I have 350 hp. Now for my other problem. Taking the carburetor shield off was easy. I'm having trouble putting the shield back on. Maybe you need 2 people for this task, or one person that knows what he is doing. This is my first Vette. I always had 57 Chevies. Any suggestions? Thanks again, Lou

New rubber hose really helps. 1 pull rubber out as far as you can on lid
2 place over carb , slightly clockwise with end of rubber near tube
3 rotate counterclockwise and push down, getting notch in lid to line up with carb....no filter on till done

Old hose gets hard and end bends in making it very hard to put on. Get a new hose if more then 10 years old

Thanks for your reply, but I gave the wrong info. No matter how much I proof read that tread I still screwed it up. I solved the problem with my carburetor. I'm having trouble with the distributor shield. Is there a trick to replace it? I can't get the three holes to line up.

I also have a '66 L79 and the shielding really isn't hard to get on. The key is to get all 3 shield pieces in place and then get the 3 screws started, but don't tighten until all three shield pieces are in place and everything lined up. I hand tighten the butterfly screws on the side pieces first and then tighten the top screw with a small socket.
