That will cost you at least $30,000. Are you up to it?

I don't know how much body work will have to be done, but generally speaking you should be able to have your car painted in the "teens" very nicely indeed for an all-over paint job.

I am sure in LA you can spend $30k if you go to an exotic type restoration shop, but you will be throwing money away.

You may want to ask a 65hihp what he thinks. Or some others in SoCal.

Here are my notes from other replys and some of my own. I usually ask a couple of questions.

1. I'm looking for a show quality paint job.
2. Can you provide references
3. Do you charge by the job or the hour

McJacks Corvettes
The person that did all the work is Jack at McJacks Corvettes located in Santa Ana Ca.
Did not really get a good response to my questions

Default Paint

I highly recommend Dave Schwartz, Euro-Body, Tarzana. If you would like to see my car he painted 13 years ago, PM me. Still looks new.

I know it's quite a ways away, but Chris Springer of Springer Auto Restoration did one hell of a job on our '62!

He's actually in Los Gatos, but his work is second to none!

You can view some of his work on his website.

Also, a guy up here in Sacramento (Bryan Moore), has done some tremendous work as well. He's currently doing another forum members car now.

I know these are not in the LA area, but both of these guys have stellar reputations, and it's only an hour flight away.

I think you can pretty much forget your insurance company signing up for a $30K paint job....

You got that right. It will be a battle and I am fighting now .....they like "customary and usual" when estimating .....

But if you are going for a show shine....you will not be driving it much....

I 2nd Mcjacks corvettes. He did all my major paint and body work. It looks great and his prices are reasonable.

I know someone in Redding who can do the glass work. He might be retired. His work is very good and priced right. Not Los Angeles... He only specializes in mid years now.

Me personally, I would be less reluctant to pay $20,000-$30,000 again for a paint job at a Corvette Restoration Shop and no paint warranty to boot. Next time, I would probably go to a "High Volume" Chevy Dealership for much much cheaper price. A " High Volume " Chevy Dealership is use to painting corvettes and if you have a problem, you go see the car dealership owner. The Chevy Dealership by me gives a 3 year paint warranty. A private Corvette Restoration shop will tell you to go fly a kite or much much worse.
