He always has some nice cars. Lucky guy that he has the money to spend on such a great hobby.

Got my TIVO set to season pass for this show. I would forget the time and date otherwise. I do not watch anything real time nowadays. I love just being to skip through the commercials and watch shows in much less time. So many of the car shows are nothing but commercials, that you can watch a show in half the time, and never miss a thing!
I even TIVO the evening news, just so I can skip the commercials.

Regards, John McGraw

Thanks for the reminder. I would have missed it otherwise, and I like this show. I DVR it, and watch later, skipping through the numerous commercials.

Whats TIVO? Is that like VHS or Beta? Did you tape it? Did you turn over the channel? Or had to adjust the rabbit ears? Hey kid hold it up higher! Right there! Now, stay right there! Okay, the dial is not working put a book of matches to hold it in place. Is that color! Ohhh ahhhhhhh! Cable, whats that? Oh you missed the game? Oh well, you can read about it in the newspaper. Oh wait, I burned the paper in the fireplace.

Kids nowadays do not get to experience these hardships!

When I was a kid I remember finishing Sunday dinner with the family and my Dad saying "Somebody go warm up the TV."

What's really interesting is that Jay has never spent a single dollar of his TV earnings and bonuses (all those years of the "Tonight" show) on his car/motorcycle/garage hobby - that has always been funded entirely by his standup comedy gigs in Las Vegas when he's "on vacation". He has invested every dime of his TV money right from the beginning 30 years ago, and, as a result, is fabulously wealthy.

Damn, you're REALLY old!!!

Just tuned 63 myself so, you know I'm kidding.

I remember watching "color" TV through one of those taped on (over a Black and white TV) plastic screens with the blue coloring on top and green on the bottom.

The first time I saw a REAL color TV was through a neighbors living room window. It was Bonanza, "In Color"!

I don't know if what you say is true, John, but I do know that what you see is NOT a matter of "luck". It would be a privilege to visit the Leno garage(s). Stay well, John.

Jay was one of my best customers when I was the Viper Plant Manager, and he always picked up his cars at the plant; we had long conversation in my office one afternoon while his guys were loading and tying down his latest Viper, and that's when he related the tale of not spending a dime of "TV money" on his car hobby.

JohnZ you are correct....he has said it often and I have read it several times. Seems like a great unassuming guy.

I have had Jay appear several times on the TV show I executive produce -- Last Man Standing -- and I can verify two of the points made on this thread. He does indeed bank all the TV money, and he is indeed a terrific guy.
