The 1967 Corvette 427 Roadster Was "Another Spirit of St. Louis"
This drool-worthy Marina Blue Chevrolet Corvette 427 Sting Ray Roadster featured in the latest episode of 'Muscle Car of the Week' looks about as clean as a '67 gets.

I got a chuckle out of the reminder that only 3754 427 coupes and converts were made that year.
As I remember seeing rows and rows of 427 '67 cars at recent car shows.

They built almost 23,000 cars. Seeing a 427 car is the early 1970s was somewhat rare, mostly what you saw was SB cars.
Assuming 1/2 of all still exist,
I would say the number of '67 BB cars currently in existence is closer to or more than 6K cars, and over half of those would be difficult to tell if they were original, or not, without very rigorous inspection.

Actually, there were 3,832 390hp, 2,101 400hp, and 3,754 435hp (plus 20 L88's and 16 L89's), for a total of 9,723 427's in 1967, or 42% of 1967 Corvette production.

I assumed he was talking about just the 435 hp versions, since that was the number he cited - and that seems to be the most fraudulently reproduced version............

A mech cammed '67 was somewhat rare on the street by 1975, as many had been wrecked or turned into drag cars. I probably saw four to five times as many in badly wrecked status or on the strip as on the street. In the 1974-1977 time frame, I remember seeing two real ones, and about a dozen wrecks (any flavor '67 BB) and drag cars.
The wrecked ones ALL had their engines removed, but you only knew it was mech cam car if the guy who had them said it once was.
I would wager the ratio of mech cammed BB cars to hyd cammed BB cars is probably 60/40 now. Or more.
