I towed you so.

420 ft lbs of torque combined with an 8 speed automatic that keeps it at peak torque moves the whole thing right along. I got rid of the SRT JGC because it was getting 9-10 mpg the way I drive but it was very fast (and I miss that part). First tank of diesel courtesy of the dealer got just south of 30 mpg, and diesel is cheaper than gas here in So Cal for a change. I have 1,008 miles on it now and I have yet to put a second tank of diesel in it.

Mine was a leftover '15. Just got it in April. Sweet deal, BTW. Had to have the towing package along with lane change assist/blind spot detector.

Yup - great vehicle! I have had zero problems with mine. The only slightly sour note was when I went to do the first oil change and needed the filter cartridge. Only place that had it locally was the dealer - and they wanted $61.00 for it! I found it online from Rock Auto for $11.00, bought 4 of 'em.

I'm still involved in the racing community. It's tragic how many rigs are stolen from motel parking lots. Keep a good eye on it. Many have GPS based security systems with tracking on them, FYI.

DZ, I knew there was a reason I liked your style!!! Those Cutlasses used to be everywhere back in the day...I worked on a million of them. Never saw one with a standard trans. They were solid, well-engineered, well built comfortable cars. Better in quality than Cadillacs of the same era. Great to see one in action.

I don't think I'd ever gotten rid of it either, DZ. That Cutlass will outlast all of us! I'll bet there were less than 20 made with the 5 speed manual!

On the way to a test and tune at Milan back in 2010. I know, younger and dumber back then on the right way to strap down a car (this was not). Blew the clutch power shifting on the way to a record run for me (seat of the pants feel)

I have not found any pictures of my first Towing trip with my Vette, I will keep looking. I live in California, bought my 66 from a friend in Michigan. My buddy and I took 5 days, towed a friends car to Des Moines, Iowa to drop it off for her to use while in college, continued to Detroit and loaded the Vette. Stayed one day to visit and ran back home. Towed with a brand new Dodge Sprinter Van with the Mercedes 6 cyl turbo diesel. We traveled as fast as we felt safe, 70-80 was common for most of the trip. Every gas stop was a discussion with people pulling in asking questions about the car or offering to buy it. We had a Tornado about 100 miles to the South of us for most of one days travel. even 100 miles away we had severe weather. We saw about a dozen Big Rigs flipped at the sides of the roads and one Crane trying to install a billboard flipped and landed on the road about a 1/4 mile behind us after we passed. We opted to keep moving and drive away from the storm since we had no place to hide.
I got the car and boxes of parts and details. I was afraid if I did not pack it and transport that I would lose many things in transit so we made the trip, had no issues and everything made it home. Had a great time with my buddy but should have added a few more days to enjoy. The Sprinter was an unbelievable tow vehicle. At 70-80 we got 16 MPG, when we slowed down to 55-65 in areas it pulled almost 20 MPG Towing. The other shock was that those vans can turn or maneuver a trailer better than any car I have towed with. Their steering allows you to turn the front wheels almost 90 degree's giving it a turning circle about a big as a Toyota Camry. We also had a full size bed in the back and Motorhome type ceiling height to walk around as needed. We almost took the trip in my 2002 Tahoe with 5.3L 4x4 and 4.10 gears. Prior to leaving we tested both cars in our local area over a few large hills and on the freeway. The Sprinter put the full Size Tahoe to shame for pulling power and gas mileage, it was even pretty comfortable. It was an amazing vehicle. That was 2007 I believe. 2,600 miles each way.

This when I first got her home last week and your rite stopping for gas was an ordeal because everyone wanted her story and telling stories of Vettes past
I think you need a bigger fan.
