Last week my wife and I had the pleasure to meet Benton in person and admire the Vette. The car is beautiful. No, it would not get a perfect score at a NCRS judging, but looks fantastic and it still doing what it was made for - running up the miles and putting a smile on people's faces. He has done a fine job on the car.

BTW - Benton is "good people" too. We had a great lunch, and if the restaurant had not filled up with people looking for a table, we would have stayed there talking half the afternoon.

(Benton, you were correct, that road took us right where we wanted to go.)

(I'm trying to catch up on a few-days-old post from Don/railroadman!)

I'm glad you made time during the trip- anyone who has a chance to meet Don and his wife should, the two of them love not just Corvettes, but travel, family, and excellent easy conversation.

I'm amazed my friend we put it together after a few trips that didn't work- the fact that you took time out of a family visit to meet a forum buddy face to face means a lot to me- this really is a tremendous community on the whole.

I hope I get to see you in NY later in the year!

I appreciate the kind words about my old car! I'm going to find you a nice dry Southern car you can build to suit!

I think the car looks fantastic in that Black & White photo (I LOVE B & W photography), especially with the lights up.

Thank you...our house is green and the car is blue and in this case black and white just "worked..." I also like B/W in many instances!

It's interesting how many people like the cars with the headlights open- I do, too!

Great car, nice looking wife.
But I can read what's behind the beautiful smile...
"Now, I hope he's done tracking in all that dirt and grease from the garage!"

You use your Corvette like I use mine; its a second car to my Tundra and I'll hop in it and run out on some whim without a second thought. Those folks who worship garage 'queens' or think the old tech is unreliable just aren't 'with it'....

You've been through a lot with that car, Benton. Now the fun begins. Enjoy it.

You know, every time I'm driving in the vicinity of a big truck I think about you and your car and it makes me more cautious and alert to the dangers.

Likewise. The old saying is, "if you can't see the truck driver's face in his side view mirror then he can't see you!"

Yes! Sushi lunch with a buddy!
There are a lot of sources of joy with these cars, driving is the chief among them.

In my case, his face was behind mine...it was the right front wheel to my hip/shoulder. Lucky to be ALIVE and glad we were moving slowly.

just yesterday, I took the 64 coupe to the drive in at the bank, and got the usual bemused look from the teller. I like this car, but, I use it, not just park it.

I like them, and this was all that was left of my cap anywhere at the crash site!

Benton - Glad to hear you are on the road and enjoying the car again!

As a suggestion, how about you bring some "closure" to all this by posting up some before and after pictures here - maybe from the auction/insurance site after the accident, and your recent pics.

Benton...

The black & white photo is awesome, Julie is modeling the '64 quite well!

All the hard work, time, and effort has paid off. You have to be very proud of your family, and the '64... enjoy the summer cruising the roads together!

I'm going to give it a stab- let me find out how many I can attach at once, and try and keep it brief, confined to photos and very little commentary. I took most of these from the thread on the insurance claim and the "rebuild" thread:

Bonding strips revealed.

Final selection. Some of these have been perhaps a little out of order!

I've also lowered it to 25.5" in the rear!

I feel like there is no way I can express how the support of the forum has pushed me forward over the last ALMOST two years since this saga began! I hope to pay it forward with whatever meager knowledge I can share!
