How many Viet Vet Vette owners

I am humbled to post on this thread, but here is my Corvette story: In 1965, when I was eight-years old, a man on my block bought a Nassau Blue 1965 Coupe. Young guy, very cool. I wanted to be him. When he worked on the car I would stand there and sometimes he'd ask me to hand him tools. He went to Nam but never returned. His parents kept the car for years, but finally sold it. I always said to myself that one day I would own a car exactly like his. Two years ago I finally did that. Thank you, vets, for what you did and may God bless you.

I enlisted in the Air Force during High School in 1972 to be an Early Warning RADAR electronics technician. I'm a "Vietnam era" Vet since I didn't go to Vietnam.

Joined the Air Force, 68 thru 72. Never made it out of the U.S., maintained Radar in Sault St. Marie, MI. and Cold Bay Alaska. I ordered a 67 Vette in 66 but ended up taking a 66 Impala SS before the Vette was delivered. Didn't get my first Vette until 2000.

I want to start out by saying Thank You for your Service and your Sacrifices for our freedom to live in this great nation. Despite what many take for granted freedom ins't free. It comes at a very high price that unfortunately many take for granted. Thank You again.
My father is a Vietnam Veteran served 67-69 5th Special Forces Group.
He has a 61 restomod, and is currently building a 63 SWC restomod with an LS7, also has a 2002 Z06 he bought new.

Since this is also supposed to be about our Vettes....
Sold my 64 vert in Feb 70 to a younger frat brother for $1500.
My Dad told me to sell it when i found out I enlisted into the Corps and volunteered. Said He didn't want to be the one to be forced to get rid of it.
Now I have a 67 vert (since June 1985). But I'm looking for a red/red 2014 vert or a '15 red/red Z06 vert.

RVN and cars
Got my 60 Corvette in 65 and joined Army same year as Chemical officer. Volunteered for RVN and got there mid 66 as Tech Intel Unit in 519 MI Bn. Work was all no foreign dissemination, so we rented office space in downtown Saigon as opposed to TonSun Nhut where the ARVN was. Spent 6 months there desk work, asked for extension away from there and asked for an airborne unit and was assigned to 5th SFG as S2 B32 Tay Ninh. Outstanding people and I was proud to serve with them!
Came back to Fort McClellan AL, home of chemical school. Did way too many funeral details in Mississippi......
The big block Vettes and mustangs were the popular cars for returning vets. Back then you could buy a Cobra for about the same price as a big block Vet, and most people picked the Vette. They all had the "need for speed" on those back roads. I never saw the need to replace the 60, still have it. The GA and AL LEO got a lot of revenue from me and many others.

Also, don't know how large the base at Dom Rep was, but a friend of mine reupped and specified Dom Rep for his duty station. One, cause he didn't want to go back to RVN, and two, cause he liked to fish. That was where I first heard of peacock bass. Name was Jim Click SP/6 medic. Maybe ya'll crossed paths there.

Went to Viet Nam in January 67 came home February 68, was with the 9th Infantry Division. 2nd BN (Mech) 47th Infantry. Same unit as Forrest Gump. Too bad they didn't do the research and find out it was a mechanized unit instead of straight infantry. I was late getting home by about a week because of the Tet Offensive.
Still have my lighter from Viet Nam.
I also have my Seiko Sportsmatic watch that still keeps accurate time.
