65 adapter, that's all there were to them; a slip-on bellows style rubber hose connected the air meter to the 90* fitting/cover/end of the filter housing. this I know as I have had several of them....

yes, I know the bellows attaches to the adapter, and the adapter screws to the airmeter flange; but there is no stud on a C2 adapter to hold a filter element & cover plate like a C1. if there is no stud, what holds the filter element on the adapter?

Maybe a filter of the correct diameter could slip over and be clamped to the adapter, just as the bellows would be?

thanks.. I thought of that, but as I have never seen a filter element like that I haven't a clue as to how they attach. maybe they are not clamped in place with a stud/nut like a traditional air cleaner.

K&N does not make a filter in the correct diameter. spoke with them directly

You make a flange of sheet metal that fits the air cleaner element and tack weld it to your original air cleaner adaptor. Slide the element over the flange and tighten the clamp.

when you don't have cold outside air to the engine like the stock FI air cleaner setup you are throwing away 1% in HP for every 10 degrees the under the hood temp is above the outside air.
