That pallet appears to have 32 Muncies on it. Not quite enough for one days production of Corvettes.

A fork lift truck would be constantly bringing more pallets of everything to the line.
The St Louis plant was small and there wasn't much room along the line for storage so most large items were stored in other areas of the plant.

And here's where these trannys were built -- Muncie Indiana. These pics were taken in April of 2007, when the plant was being dismantled. Would'a loved to make a long sidewalk using those Chevrolet bricks of the smokestack.

That smokestack is proof we were once a great "working" country that built great products. Just the skilled labor in that stack alone is pretty awesome. "Chevrolet". Kinda sad they tore it down.

Yes the top transmission without the cardboard sleeve shows they are 26 spline input shafts and you can see the black iron cover on one on the back. Its from the later 70's
