Default 63 Brake line to steering box clamp

Anyone have pic of the way the brake line was held in place to the steering box. Thanks Robert.

Are you sure about a clip on the steering box ?

My 63 AIM shows a clip at the front frame crossover member and a clip that holds a brake line junction box to the frame rail just aft of the steering box - that's all.

And my original car matches that..

The front brake pipe is not clipped/attached to the steering gear - only to the frame.

Robert, there is a clip that is held on by the rearmost steering gearbox bolt that holds the e-brake cable in place. I can get a pic tomorrow.

LICS 05-38A (ethanol resistant parts) -- I have no idea if this is correctly numbered - maybe a phone call. If yours is working I think I'd just take the point 'hit'.
LICS has the best, most correct parts for 63s IMO - but I've had a few dicey repro sending units before...very inaccurate.

If you do change it there is a special tool to R&R it but many just use a hammer and punch/chisel.. You have to be careful of sparks around a gas tank though...even empty ones can have vapors...

I agree with Frankie, if the unit works properly, leave it alone. You can get Top Flight without those points, try to find easier points elsewhere. It's not worth the trouble or expense to change it just for a few points.

That's not a gage any longer, it's now "art" . Maybe a sending unit is necessary, but it could be the gage itself...

Regarding fuel for a 63 fuelie: I'd suggest non-ethanol premium with octane of 91 or more. Get the "puregas" ap on your phone to find your local non-ethanol fuel stations.

If you can only find 90 octane, you may be all right if your compression isn't too high. If you get knocking with 90 octane (or less) try to find non-ethanol racing fuel (105-110 octane) and add a gallon per tank of gas, (to raise the octane level of the mix).

If you have any Wa-Wa stations near you they have non-ethanol gas at the pump with the blue handle (at least -- all the ones in Florida do).

I don't drive a fuelie so others that actually do would have better answers...

PS - determine if its the dash gauge or sending unit causing your bad reading - if its the sending unit then you'll want to replace it. If the fuel indicator fails ops checks its a big hit..

we don't have non ethanol in Ct. so I guess I,ll use the 93 octane.
