Default Power Steering Asst. Favoring the Right Hand Side?

Hey folks... hope everyone is well on this upcoming holiday weekend!

Got the 64 back today from the alignment center ( $149) and he fixed the issues with the back wheels....

Problem is; the car is still drifting radically to the right when I drive. Not when I brake.. but when I am actually moving forward. The tech there said " I think your power steering assist is favoring the right hand side, you need to adjust it."

Can anyone give some insight as to what he may be talking about?

is this the Power steering pump? Should I just get a new one from Corvette America and be done with it?

Thanks as always for your wisdom!

If your power assist steering setup is okay and no damage and no damage or problems with your front suspension, the 'adjustment' is at the end of the control valve at the end of your drag link, no adjustment is typically made at the pump itself. While the adjustment is relatively simple, I get the feeling this is new to you so maybe better to find someone experienced with handling it. By the way, how long have you owned the car and did it always have this tendency to pull to one side? If PS was added or some component of the PS setup was changed out, there's a chance it was never balanced/centered. Do you have a GM Service Manual handy, the procedure is explained in detail in it but again, you might feel more comfortable having someone else check it out for you.

These are the instructions that came with my power steering conversion kit.

If centering is required, remove the metal cap at the end of
the control valve and adjust the centering by
turning the screw (under cap), while the engine is running at
1500 RPM and the front wheels are off the ground. Steering
will move left or right as the screw is adjusted. Once
steering remains straight, replace cap and continue to next
step.

Jordan,

Keep in mind the car will always want to walk down the crown of the road, that's normal. The best way to trouble shoot is to drive it on a flat road with very little crown and see if it pulls toward the right.

The steering box could be loose causing the car to wander down the crown, the camber could also be changed on the passenger side to keep it straighter.

Thanks so much guys... I will print all this out and take it the garage where I get the car serviced. I am sure we can figure it out.

As always... it's been awesome getting your feedback.
