Mixing led's bulbs in dash
Would I have a problem if I put led bulbs in the dash for the speedometer and tachometer and leave all the other bulbs alone?

I don't think you would have a problem, but it would look a little strange. Personally, I would do all of the gauges. Are redoing the entire cluster? Seeing/reading the others is more important then the tach and speedo. Dennis

Think the dimming function might not work evenly, and hard to match the light temperature.
If you want LEDs, just get the the superbrightleds.com 5 LED tower version in "warm white" (they are the only ones that I found bright enough and dim as needed).
Don't waste your money on Ebay leds.........

Agree with above, mixing would not be good. I used a combination of the tower and flat LEDs.
You do loose dimming with LEDs unless you install a control module. However c2 dash lights aren't that bright to worry about IMHO
Here is a link with picture of lights at night.

The superbrightleds.com units that I used, do dim properly (no need for a control module).
Don't know how they do it, but they do.

5 Tower LED for $4.95. They are rated at 96 LM (the $.98 bulbs are only rated for 3 LM)!
From a previous thread of mine (in response to PaulUptime):

Paul,
I installed the Superbrightleds.com # BA9s-WWHP5 (warm white) for my 62's instruments.
If your 65 uses the same #57 bulb as my 62 used (for instruments and clock), then the above Superbrightleds.com number should work well for you. They would also replace the later 1895 bulbs (as were in my 70 Vette).
I was very pleased at the brightness and the fact that they dim (as needed).

I have installed the superbriteleds.com 5 and 9 led bulbs in a couple of mid-years and 1956 and they really shine well. I also do the clock so it have the same look and the radio also....and the light bulb for the ignition switch....and I usually use the wire for the ignition switch light bulb and tie that into the interior lights so it shines when the door is open.
Footwell lights are also LED's...and they make a HUGE difference.

I generally repaint them like Gm did with the light blue/green pastel color. If you want to change the color...it will cast that in that color to a degree ..except for black for those people who want to be critical.. SO if you want red...paint it red and test it.
Using red LED's can work also( if you want to change it to that color)...but you may find that they may not produce the correct shade of red..so you may need to test it..and this is due to the candle power of the bulbs and the manufacturer of the LED, etc.

For those of you who have done LEDs in the dash, how have you done the clock? It has a metal bulb housing and the 5-led tower bulb I got from superbrightleds.com doesn't fit 😕.
See picture below for failed test-fit. The bulb is just a little too big. Thanks for suggestions! I don't want everything to look LED and the clock be dim/another shade.

^ Yes, stock bulbs. 1445, 1816 and 1893. And when I took that picture I had the cluster hooked up to my portable battery pack, which I measured after and it was only putting out 11.7 Volts. I imagine they will be even brighter when installed in the car with the engine running.

I Like this Much Much Better.... no more drive cables or speedo & Tach inaccuracies

this is what I did. I used a shorter LED, does not have the side LED elements but I guess that this will be OK with the reflection within the bajonet.
I removed the plastic color ring cause it prevented the bajonet to slip over. Be careful, cause the led elements have their contacts on the pcb at the outer side , so they can touch the bajonet and short circuit. To prevent that I put some transparent shrink tube over it. Hope this is all ok now, will check tonight when sun is gone
