Default Lucky break today

Last 3 or 4 months noticing an increasing oil drip around the engine/transmission seam on my '64, and when I took a quick look underneath last week, figured rear main seal was leaking. Put it up on jackstands today and did a closer inspection, including removing inspection cover. Turns out oil filter canister seal was the culprit, so a quick oil and filter change with new seal cured the leak. Wiped it all down and drove around for 1/2hr, then placed a piece of cardboard underneath, and after a few hours, it's leak free.

My almost fifty year old 1967 with original gaskets and seals is not so forgiving. I tolerate a small oil film on the garage floor after a day of driving.............especially during the colder months when these seals behave the worst.

I wouldn't mind it marking it's spot a little, but it kept growing and growing!

It's great it turned out to be a simple fix. I had a similar experience a few weeks ago. Started seeing a small oil puddle under the car. The problem turned out to be the oil drain plug. New plug and gasket and no more puddles. Life is good.

Once in a while, not to often, a guy gets a break. Suggest you write down a time and date of the break for further reference.

bought a 67 recently, the owner had a terrible leak that he could not remedy. I guess that why he sold it.

I put it up on the lift had the wife start it up and saw that the oil was coming from the filter area. He had a spin on. with the adapter.
I found 2 o rings. Took them out and replaced it with a new one and had no leaks. Lift pays dividends again.
