Car Cover for a C1
I'm looking for a good, inexpensive, water & UV proof, doesn't scratch the paint car cover. Anyone know of one?

Ha! I have a Wally Mart cover for my '61 and it works fine...and an expensive Wolf cover for my '63 that came with the car. I've always wondered what the supposed difference was in the $39 cover and the $139 covers. In 'breathable' fabric form, other than a custom fit, the texture and stitching don't seem all that different. Oh yeah, you have to cut the antenna hole yourself in the cheap covers..
I DO understand that when you get into the x-layer, flannel arena that the prices jump up, but for a 'dust' cover, I can't see it.
I really get a kick out of the inflatable, snow-globe car bubbles and now I see there is an automobile clear-sided, "bounce house" you can buy. I think this is more about enshrining the car by **** owners than protecting something...

Are these Wally World covers waterproof? A guy just told me not to use a a cover he recommended if it looked like rain. Would be a mess. But that's exactly why I want to use one. C1's are notorious for leaking and I don't want to come out in the morning and find my car full of water!
I want it for the upcoming Power Tour and to provide some degree of theft protection.
I suppose I could put a plastic drop cloth on first, then the cover.

Then buy a Ferguson cockpit cover for either top down or top up protection...there are two type; Eckler's Part #: 25-105537-1 will provide an example. Generic car covers have done more paint damage IMO than road rash and rock chips...
You can PM me if you want info to get one from an alternate source.
I use the top down version in Stayfast religiously in Florida monsoons...
HOWEVER, even this won't save you if you haven't put dum-dum under the two rearmost windsplit stainless molding studs and the side spears...

Really ?
The windsplits are the two stainless moldings on top of the fenders going from between the headlights on each side rearward towards the cockpit - the silvery, shiny bits in the picture. The last two rearward mounting studs on these pieces intrude into the cockpit and a proper installation requires putting dum-dum on those mounting studs to prevent leaks.
The next picture shows the side spear mounting holes in the cove; if you remove a kick panel you'll see the mounting studs for these go straight into the cockpit (there is a rectangular reinforcement plate on the back of each spear). the holes have nice wide slots (see pic) to let that water in nicely during heavy splashing or wind-driven rain. Again -- dum-dum..

It never occurred to me that water could enter in those places. I've got some work to do as mine will definitely leak. Thanks for the info, Frankie. The places I was worried about is the weatherstripping around the doors, windows, and windshield which is definitely lacking.
