As I sit here at a car show......
I get to thinking about all of those who have died for our freedom in war, training, agent orange and all of the guys who were never the same after they got back or lost a limb. Thank you for your sacrifice so that we may enjoy our freedom.

Amen, brother.
I am remembering my Dad, who passed two years ago. WWII Navy combat vet in the Pacific. Came back, raised a family, never asked for a damn thing, just got on with life. Even went back as a civilian contract employee with Lockheed in Viet Nam and was there at Tan Son Nuht during the Tet offensive, while I was in college.
Thanks, Dad - I miss ya!

My Dad was also a WWII vet. We are Chinese and I'm guessing he had it rough at times when he was in the Navy. He was a good father that sacrificed a lot for his family. At his burial, it was good to see the honor guard ceremony.
Never bought a car that he was proud to drive until after he retired.
I miss him a lot.

Well said, Jason.
A couple guys I went to school with did not make it back from Nam. Even though I was not close buddies with either, it's sobering and sad just the same. And when we look back through the country's history, there were SO many who died so we can enjoy what we do today.

Memorial Day, a day to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for (the interests) of our Country and freedom....good to remember those among us who served with those who died in conflict....I knew the first MI Soldier who died in "the war on terror", CWO Chris Nason....hu-ah...he is missed....wish the current administration really understood that kind of sacrifice....(my opinion)

My Dad was a WWII Army combat vet that made the Normandy invasion. He never told you any details about the war but he never missed an occasion to fly the flag that he was so proud defend.
RIP Dad. I miss you.
Thanks to all that have served and those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice.
God bless America.

Just a reminder that while Memorial Day, Veteran's Day and Armed Forces Day are, in fact, three distinctly different occasions that recognize three distinctly different groups . . . and educating ourselves about that is a good place to start . . .
It is NEVER inappropriate to honor our service men and women. Any day. Whether they be departed, retired, or active duty, any more than it is inappropriate to honor the flag which they defended. Just a simple "Thank You" will do. They didn't even ask for that, but they earned it, and continue to do so.

Memorial Day is for all of those that paid the ultimate price for Freedom and Democracy. It is important that they be remembered not only for their sacrifice for the ideals of Freedom, but also be honored by striving to maintain the ideals of "Liberty and Justice for ALL" for which they died.
Only the living can strive to maintain those ideals. The greed and quest for power of the foes of "Liberty and Justice for ALL" and Democracy are not just in countries with the turmoils of war. As the beneficiaries of those that paid the ultimate sacrifice, we are responsible to assure the foe here in the United States of America are not allowed to deny "Liberty and Justice for ALL" for the goal of a Capitalistic nation where the rich and organized minorities are the only ones with Rights under the Constitution which set forth the goals of "Freedom, Democracy, Liberty, and Justice for ALL" were set forth.
The loss of the rights of just one American is a stake in the heart of Democracy and a threat to our own Freedom. Take the time to let the politicians know when they have not represented the rights of ALL people with laws that benefit the rich and special interest groups at the cost of Liberty, and Justice for ALL Our efforts to restore / maintain Democracy here at home will be the greatest honor we can show for those that have made the ultimate sacrifice. Please stand together and be heard. We are the Guardians of Democracy.

I was playing tennis on Saturday morning and there was a high school graduation going on about 150 yards away. When the high school band began the Star-Spangled banner we could hear it on the courts. I stopped playing, took off my hat in honor of this amazing country and everyone else on the courts did the same. God Bless America.
