At 1,765 saddle tan cars (8%) built in '64, it was the least popular color back then. I'm partial to the less popular colors and color combinations so I like it. I especially like that it has a tan interior.

What color is the top? Out of 13,925 convertibles built in '64, only 591 had tan tops. A tan/tan/tan car would really be something special in my book.

It looks really great to me.
I like it alot esp because it is scarce in the sea of red and blue (mine is blue) corvettes at car meets.
While similar; there is a quite a difference between Fawn Beige (61-62) and Saddle tan.

Season 2 of Route 66 featured a fawn 62 and season 3 debuted the stingray in Saddle tan (not that you can tell in B&W).

My feelings on that color have changed over the years. It has grown on me, and I would not mind having one altho it would still not be my first choice.

Steve,
The guy that got me into Corvettes had a Triple Crown winner, 64 tan/tan/tan fuelie and it was stunning.
To the OP, in my mind the car would really pop if it had whitewalls.

There's a reason it was the least popular color back then, and still is. When it comes time to sell, that color really cuts down on the number of potential buyers. A buddy had a tan/tan coupe that took a very long time to sell at way below the market price at the time.

I like it because it is very indicative of the time it was built.
LOTS of browns in the '60s-70s. Across all manufacturers. Porsche has used something like 18-20 different browns on 911s through the run, starting in 1964.
I don't consider brown to be a "fast" color. Perhaps better suited for Buicks and Ford station wagons. Last color on my list when I was young. Nowadays I see it, and I like it. I think it's mostly due to nostalgia...

Browns are coming back. I've seen several browns on newer cars and trucks lately. I'm glad. Some are very attractive. Bronzes and coppers as well.
Nothing like a bronze 1970 AAR 'Cuda!

Why not paint it RED like all the other Corvettes.
I have a Almond Beige 62 with a red interior (1 of 820, very few red interiors), some like it some don't.
I personally think "different is good"

Would have thought I would dislike this color until I saw a beautifully restored '64 in person. Looked nice.

It's not as interesting as fawn, but it would be one of my top choices.

But there's not any factory color on a '67 or older Corvette that I don't like. Too flexible, I guess.

I wouldn't even look at a Saddle Tan car at a show 25 years ago. Thought it was a terrible color. The last few years it has really grown on me, too. But maybe that means it's an old fart's color.

Saw one at a car show. Looks fabulous. Photos don't do it justice.
