A Very nice Memorial Day Tribute from Rodders Journal.
This Memorial Day, we would like to honor the men and women who have lost their lives defending our freedoms. Without their selflessness and bravery, our nation wouldn’t be what it is today. We thank them for all they've done for our country. We are eternally grateful.
We hope you have a safe and relaxing holiday weekend with friends and family.
Sincerely,
Your Friends at The Rodder’s Journal
There is a great graphic but I can't seem to paste it.

While its good that the general public honors veterans, this holiday is specifically to honor those who gave their lives. It is often confusing for the general public as to which holiday is which. This day must be very hard for the families of the fallen.

I think of this man everyday, so for me it's Memorial Day again.
USMC Captain Gordon S. Haugen.
Like so many others, he fought to defend our country when the Axis powers sought to destroy it in WWII. He died in 1965.
His squadron in the Philippines. He's seated on the far right in front.
His commendation letter of 1950:
I'm proud of my Dad. And of every other person who ever served to defend the USA.
