67 trim tag opinions
first I have no connections to the seller or have ANY intent to buy. on that note give me your honest opinions on the trim tag. me it looks like NTP rivets attaching the tag. and looks to have been off the car.
here is the add to the car. I will say it looks great in pictures but I am sort of partial to the color combo

Keep in mind that there are companies that remanufacture both VIN plates & data plates (approx $200 per plate, star rivets $45 per pair), the rivets on the data plate are of the type that GM used to affix it to the rail as are the six leaf rivets for the VIN plate as well, but it does not mean that the car is original, when cars reach this value, it has become advantageous to re VIN the engine, and trans and chassis (usually $500 if the car is apart), obviously this car has been disassembled & restored, can you see what condition it was prior to its resto, I doubt they will let you see the original condition photos, if you are serious about buying this car or any other corvette especially on ebay or any other internet site, pay an appraiser that knows corvettes intimately, anyone else would just be a waste of money and a very costly mistake on your part.

I am trying to figure something out here. Am I nuts and not thinking correctly???
Did they change something for the 67 model year. I notice that the trim tag has a date of E21 stamped on it. Wouldn't that be January 21??? According to the birthday calculator (if you can believe it. My car was dead on according to the calculator.) this car's birth date was on December 26, 1966. What I found odd was the build date of the engine. It is October 14. If the trim tag is correct that would be in excess of 90 days for this engine to be just lying in wait for a vehicle to go into.
Could the birthday calculator be that far off to be almost a month difference between the stamp date and the calculator date??? Not trying to get flamed here, just trying to figure this one out. I have nothing against this car, in fact I really like it but it just seemed odd to me.

I'd like a simple explanation as to why the left side of the tag is basically battered like it was in a fight, yet there isnt a scratch anywhere around it, or on the paint on the bar its affixed to.

Or why the vin tag beside it is almost in perfect shape. That is what raised my eyebrows about it.

No opinion on the trim tag but a car with that vin was listed for sale in the NCRS driveline 25 years ago. 427/390, black/saddle, tank sticker, needs restoration, $25k.
I wonder where the tank sticker is now.

the vin plate is SS and small, while the Trim tag is aluminum and overhangs the top of the cross bar. Easy to batter and wrinkle the Trim tag, while near impossible to do so the vin plate.

I wedged more than a few hockey sticks in my 65 when it was my daily driver in the early 70's. Seems that spot was exactly where it would hit.

Personally I would like to know what the NCRS Shipping Data Report shows for a production date. Dec 21st was Wednesday I would expect the actual NCRS record to show 12/21 or 12/22 based on this tag. Yet the calculator I use for this says the actual production date is 12/26 - I see no way for that to happen, maybe the calculator I use is inaccurate for the later part of December. I don't even see a scenario that allows a Wednesday tagged car to hang around until after Christmas at 90 plus cars per day off the line.

In those days, they only got a couple of days off at Christmas (not the entire span from Christmas eve through the New Year's weekend like they do today). With a Sunday Christmas, I'd expect them to run normally through Friday and have Monday off. The St. Louis Local Agreement spells it out, but I don't have one.
