Vintage Air Idle Solenoid?
Last owner installed Vintage Air on my '66. Certainly doesn't like to idle with the a/c on. Before I surf the web for the answer, I figured you fellas could point me in the right direction...
Is there an idle solenoid commonly used for our Corvette application? [small block with Holley]

There is an idle 'step up' solenoid for the later Holleys, can't say if it works on the older ones but it is kind of klunky. IIRC, its not strong enough to force the idle up on its own ... you have to set it by blipping the throttle when you know the compressor has kicked in...
You can see it in the red square on my '67 Chevelle's carb...
Frankly, I'd just set the regular curb idle up 100RPM or so in the summer; that works fine with the Vintage Air A/C on my '63...

I have one on my GTX with AC - but with a bracket for an Edelbrock carb. I think I purchased my solenoid and bracket through Summit. Mine isn't strong enough to bump the idle up either on initial activation without blipping the throttle first.

having said that I find that it works fine when it gets "bumped" and you get the stepped up idle set right. Mine is installed on a Holley 2831. I was able to use the Holley bracket but did have to tap a hole in the carb to mount the bracket. Just wire it to the compressor clutch and you're good to go.

Here's a typical aftermarket idle-kicker solenoid installation on a Holley.
