Default 300 hp 327 block vin S2119430

I found a block with VIN S2119430 on the pad. It is F0222RB.
Block 3782870 date: B144 (Feb14, 1964) No Crank or heads Lot of wear on one cylinder, but I think it may bore out.

I think it is for an Impala, but the S in the VIN leads me to think it may be Corvette. Did they build Impalas at St. Louis as well as Vettes? or Can anyone tell me if it is Corvette or Impala?
I would like to get it back to the car owner if the car is still alive.

I asked recently about a ser. no. on a Muncie with an "S" and too high a number and found out they did indeed make full size Chevys at St. Louis back then. I though only trucks and vettes up until then.

It's not out of a Corvette - must be out of a passenger car. Impalas were built at 60/hour plus trucks at 35/hour in the main plant right next door to the little Corvette plant. The VIN derivative format for the engine pad was different between passenger and Corvette, and that block pad says passenger car.

Thanks Gentlemen,
I tried to figure out the VIN and it didn't come up for Corvette. I didn't think they stamped VINs on anything except Corvettes until 1968. Wrong again.
i'll find an Impala website to try to find the owner before I junk it.

Thanks
Ron

Yes, the "S" leading character indicates a passenger car block, but you have too many numbers there. There should only be 6 digits following the S. All of the 300hp engines were produced at Flint, so there are far more Passenger car blocks out there than Corvette blocks.

You won't have a hard time finding "Impala" web sites. You'll probably have to join in order to post an ad. Don't forget VCCA and AACA as well.
