12.14 w/ the original 327
With my MY6 trans, it only clashes if I try "speed shifting" into 3rd. Otherwise, it is fine. I rebuilt this trans about 4 years ago (new synchro rings, bearings, and gaskets) and found a Main Shaft "C' clip that had broken. I replaced the clip, and tried to repair the slightly rounded off shaft groove. After reinstalling, it was working great, until I tried "speed shifting" with Bill in the Vette, and that is when it started to clash again, so I am assuming that the "C" clip has broken again (probably too much end play). Otherwise, if driven "normally", it behaves just fine. Note that the wide spread between gears, does not make for a good speed shifter anyway, and forget about trying to downshifting into 1st at anything above 5 mph.....but it is a great "cruiser" transmission.
And as Bill indicated, I have a "spare" ready to go.
And the "fancy" trans fluid that Bill mentioned, is from a Chrysler A-833 guru (the MY6 is a version of the A-833 made by Chrysler's New Process for GM) that did help with "normal" shifting (made it "slicker" with less effort), so it does have it's purpose.

Thanks for the follow-up. We'll have to give ATF a try. It shifts fine under normal conditions, but will grind second power shifting. We like the trans, but he may swap for a 5 or 6 speed. If he does, I will probably put it in my C10.

i'm gonna make a wild-azz guess and say that the reason Keisler made a new input shaft/gear is because after the bell is removed from the original transmission the length of the input had to be modified to the mate-up distance of the clutch/pilot bushing/crankshaft/bellhousing/etc.
I hope i'm wrong as the transmission becomes a 'throwaway' if a replacement cannot be found; kinda sorta like the SS700...

Keisler in turn took orders for direct sales of transmissions and kits to install the SS700 in various vehicles and also through a few authorized dealers. again, I have no idea how many Keisler sold, but get the impression it wasn't many as I have one of the last ones: serial #332.
SST is the successor to Keisler but I gather that they have very few parts and I don't know whether any of Keisler's vendors would have had any parts.
rumor has it that LGT may have gone 'belly-up'; if so, there are no more parts unless someone bought up leftover parts through a bankruptcy or other means... SST has said that some parts are shelf items like synchronizers and i'm sure various bearings are too.
as to warranty... I THINK I remember SST saying they would honor the warranty, BUT if no parts are available i'm not sure how much good that is....

well, as the saying goes... "your results may differ"... most people may be happy, but the bad part is that they are pretty much orphans, especially if LGT is having financial difficulties or has gone belly-up.
Mine is # 332 and is probably one of the last Shafi shipped. i don't know how many SST may have built/sold or LGT sold directly.

Today I was talking to John (Plasticman) about this thread and as we talked he did an internet search for information on the SS700 and the LGT700.
apparently there is still a website for Legend Gear & Transmission at a location different from when I visited them a couple years ago, but I have not tried to contact to contact them about their status; all I presently know is what SST has said about them being owed back $$ for unfilled orders.
Vendors are still listed for the SS700 and even their websites still mention the SS700: Bowler, 5speeds, and a couple others I can't remember....; so I haven't got a clue....
I was surprised tuner63 has serial # 385... I figured mine was one of the last ones and consisted of leftover 'seconds'....
anyone else have any thoughts or information to offer?

In my many discussions with Shafi while trying to decide whether to buy the RS or SS transmission, I emphasized to him the importance of smooth shifting at high RPM. Much was discussed, but the key thing he indicated was that the SS supposedly has redesigned/lighter gears/shafts for lower rotating mass which, naturally, would make it easier to shift at high speed. There might be other differences including, obviously, the case.
