I've been running 215/65-15 tires on my '67 for over thirty years without a problem.

[QUOTE=cor66vette;1592873830]No issues with the extra width?

No, none at all. In fact, I have another set of wheels (6x15 TT II's) with 215/70/15 Toyo's which, are actually a bit wider than the Michelin Diamondbacks and, never an issue with either.

Gary

BTW I, like 65GGvertte, edited my earlier post too as I meant 215 "70" 15 as well.

There has been no rubbing so far because I've done little more than drive it around the block on 25 MPH side streets! Does anyone else out there have and experience with this particular tire size on a C2?
My '66 has the same size tire and I've never had any issue rubbing...and I have been known to run this car quite hard!

These were on the car when I purchased it, but I'd probably go up to a 215/70/15 when I replace them.

Thanks for this. Thirty years without rubbing is good enough for me. I can now go back to worrying about something else!

Anybody mention Cooper Trendsetters? Good looking tire, performs great, dirt cheap. Uniroyal make a nice one too...

I bought the correct width whitewall Uniroyal tires at Walmart for $83 each. I replaced the 7.75x15 bias ply ww tires with these radials and what a difference in the ride and handling.

I'm using 225 / 60 / 15 Michelin Pilot on my 66, I noticed there is a little bit of rub marks when turned too much but never heard it rub.

IMO, a lower profile tire is visually preferred.

The bad is my speedometer is off when driving on the freeway (may not be related to tire size - need to change the gear on my Tremec) and my spare tire door doesn't close completely.

You guys have been great and full of good advice.

I decided on these Uniroyal tires:

I was leaning toward these Hancooks, until it was pointed out by my friend's watchful eye that the side of the tires had some type of graphic:

Thanks again for the input and comments.

Exactly what I have on my '63 and very satisfied with them...I believe you might even get some judging points too!

My 66 had the optional WSW tires from the factory. The Cooper Trendsetter is a lower cost replacement. Have had them for a few years and they do the job just fine.

I HATE Michelin tires as well (last time I bought a brand new car with Michelins, I made the dealer change the tires as a condition of sale), however the only 205/75/15 USA-made tire Diamondback was offering for redline conversion in early 2013 was a Michelin. I find a USA-made Michelin to be more acceptable than Chinese-made anything, so that's what I went with. I have not had any issues with them, and as an added bonus all the Michelin lettering is removed from the outer sidewall by Diamondback so you don't have to reminded of the brand anyway. Diamondback's customer service and responsiveness was top notch. A good friend of mine ordered a set the same day as me, and they gave us a small discount for the larger order.

Yes I've had them 205-75-15's on my 67's for a long time (too long). I would like to get the Uniroyal tiger paw whitewalls if they're still available.

I know we're in a global economy now but I cant wrap my mind around kumho's or toyo's on my 67.

I had to zoom in to see the size of the Uniroyals I had installed, but they're also 205x75R15. They're wider than the 7.75 x 15 bias ply and no worry about rubbing anywhere.

So - has anyone given Coker a try for redline and goldline tires in the last couple of years? I know the Mexican reproductions they sold used to have a pretty bad rep (I have a set of about 15 years age on my GTX that have held up so far) but I think they have moved on to Uniroyals now.

I really need to replace tires on both my Corvette and my GTX and $25 - 35 dollars price difference over 8 tires is something to consider. Also I'm not seeing a Goldline from Diamondback in 205/75-15 which is what I would like to run.

Just wondering?
