Default Newbie looking for advice

Hi All,

I know everyone loves a "whats it worth?" thread, especially when its my first.

I have had a few Corvettes but have never been active on forums or clubs. Recently I have become interested in mid year cars and specifically 66 Convertibles. I have an opportunity to trade a car in and pick up a 1966 327/300 Mosport Green car in the deal. Has both tops, knock offs, power windows, posi-trac and a 4 spd.

The car had a full rest done in early 2000's and has won Triple Crown. Has all docs back to window sticker and owners manuals.

I'd appreciate any feedback given on what the market is for this car currently. Thanks!

Mike

I had a '66 Mosport L79 coupe with dark green interior and A/C and side exhaust and knock-offs (repops), loved it but sold it about 6 years ago. My opinion would be about $65-$75K if it is still in pristine condition and the resto has held up well. Good luck, great cars!

Welcome to the CF. Go on the Hagarty Ins. web site and load in the data for their evaluation tool. This will get you in the ballpark. Awards are great, but things could be lerking from long before. 13-15 years have passed and may not have been kind to the car, especially if it was stored incorrectly. The color is very unique and the options desirable. Does it have it's original "as built" engine? If you can post high quality pics of the interior, under chassis, and engine compartment we can develop some responses. Dennis

Take it to a qualified appraisal outfit or have them come to you....

That car has been on ebay for a long time on and off. I think the bids always started at 50k and didnt get much action. I remember because I had the same car but not near as nice. I would guess 55-65k .

Wow I didnt know they wanted 87984 for it. no wonder its been up so long.

70 if you really love the color.

So they're at $87,984. Are they firm?

I really like mossport, but 60-70 seems more realistic for this car.

Could you find a nice $40K original type car and restore it to that condition and be all in for 88K?
Then you have to consider all that documentation.

Some dealers and sellers want to add $20K or so onto the underlying price for awards like the triple crown, as they say the cost of obtaining them is about that. Having done that, I would confirm it does cost that kind of money to get them, but they really belong to the previous owner, not you, he got the fun and enjoyment of winning it, not you, so that is not worth a plug nickel for the car. The awards were also a lifetime ago for a car, much can happen and many correct parts can disappear, but the condition, if those are recent pictures, seems to still be very good. The car appears to have its' original engine and has some very valuable paperwork and documentation of provenance. I would go $75K.

Looks like a great car. I would think $70-$75 would be in the ballpark.

I think this is a good point. OK, I might go up to 75, but that puts me in a price range where there's a lot of nice cars to choose from. Another mossport '66 of similar quality with documentation? Probably not. As usual, it comes down to how much you like this particular car.

I assume you're going to look at whatever car you buy in person. Sight unseen is a bad idea in 98% of potential deals. I would only do that if I was buying from a very close and trusted friend. One guy in the USA.

Thanks for all the input guys. The car is local to me and is exactly as it appears in the photos - including documentation. I have had it looked at and there is no evidence of being hit or other trauma and all the parts are correct. I have a car that they want more than I do so I am trying to leverage that to my advantage and be in the car for between 70-75.

Yeah man, I agree that they don't come much better than that one. And, I agree that the ball park is $60-70k.
