Default Carlisle 2016 What's everyone's impressions?

I spent 3 days Thurs.-Sat. there....seemed to be fewer venders with higher prices. Nice display cars....not an excess of quality in the car corral. What's others opinion?

its not what it use to be. the vendors were down, and attendance was down both in the fun field and the general walking. the parts selection was down I think due to the PA tax laws. cars for sale were down. but lets face it there is only so many good parts and cars to be sold

I had a couple parts tables there this year for the first time in a long while. Sales were very brisk for myself and the people around me. Seemed people with good parts sold them very quickly on Thursday and Friday. Saturday, which is usually T shirt and wax day anyway, did not have many serious buyers in the swap areas. The buyers were out Thursday and Friday.

My vehicle was basically empty going back, except for the windshield I bought. Good thing too, it wouldnt have fit otherwise.

The weather was the absolute best I can remember in ages. No rain at all, no weather interference of any kind. Amazing.

Overall, bodies are down from the boom years. Its 2016 and its like that at every swap event.

Well, speaking as a first time visitor from Australia, I was completely blown away, what a fabulous event:- first time here and has been a bucket list thing for me, for many many years.
Arrived early Thursday morning, and stayed till lunch today, and had a ball.
Met lots of great Corvette people, many of which I have had correspondence with on this forum.
Thanks guys, will treasure the memories, just wished I had more time to spend with you all.

Ross it was a pleasure to meet you and your two mates. Of all the years I have been going there I am always amazed by the international visitors who make the trip to the states to come to the show. And it's fun to talk to them and you realize the love for the same hobby knows no boundaries

We have higher prices because its not cheap to sell there . last year I had six spots 2 hotel rooms , a crew of people and closed the shop for a week . Total COST for event was 7k . brought in less than 2500 . and everyone wonders why the swap meet is dying ?

Did anybody see ProTeam's barn find '63 Z06 tanker, with "Not 4 Sale" scrawled on the fender?

The one that was at Bloomington Gold, the white one?

Thought it was for sale.

I did. I guess that's a "look what I have" and see if anybody makes a obscene offer.

I though there were some venders missing like Vette Brakes & Products and Mongoose but mid day Saturday it seemed there were plenty of people going through the mid way. Yes the prices were high and I get it that it is expensive for the venders. What I don't get is the retail dealer type asking prices for individually owned cars. I guess sellers are trying to take advantage of what they think is a captive audience.
The fun field is made up of C5 and newer Corvettes and I get that. If that's what it takes to keep the event going strong so be it.

Maybe it's me, but I was a great time from start to finish. And that observation included the heat, the crowds, and especially meeting Ross and mates from down under. I promised them cold beer, and I delivered. I was able to put a face to some names from here and share more stories of their Corvette adventures. I had the honor of being a Celebrity Pick by Adam Boca from the NCM...thanks Adam. Next year should be a whopper for the '67 50th celebration. Watch for possible plans coming from Lance for next year.

I enjoyed it as much as I always do. No rain was a big plus. Great to get together with old friends, have a few beers and look at Corvettes. The internet has had a profound impact on parts/vendors. I'm not restoring anything now so I'm buying petroliana for the garage and detailing products for the cars. I think Lance and his crew do a great job putting this event together. Good time. It just never gets old for me even after 32 years at Carlisle

This was my second year at Corvettes at Carlisle, and second year of owning my 62'. Last year I attended pretty much just for the experience, I knew hardly anything about the c1 world and had a good time just walking around and taking it all in. This year my knowledge is ten fold what it was last year, and I still consider myself lower than a novice compared to how much knowledge of these cars exist in some of you. I am still intimidated to "talk shop" with most people at the show but I had a much better experience this year perusing the swap meet and actually knowing what parts were and if I needed them!

I also got to have the fabled ham and egg sandwich from the concession area that my uncle (the original owner of my car) would delight me with stories about from his many years of attendance at the show years past.

I enjoy the show and will likely continue to make the trip from NY both for my own enjoyment and knowledge enrichment, as well as a tribute to my uncle. I hope to one day be confident enough in my knowledge of these cars to speak up put some faces to the usernames.

Default Birds of a Feather....

It was a fabulous weekend...maybe a tad warm...but great nonetheless. This was only my second visit to Carlisle and the first time I attended as part of a group. I joined up with the 63-67 Registry and from my standpoint it made the event that more enjoyable. So many nice people and I have never seen so many beautiful c2's in the same place. I must give a shout out to Bluestripe67 and his wife who organized the registry's participation at Carlisle. They really made this new guy feel at home and made what is always a great weekend even better.

I was there Thurs and Fri buying parts for my 3 Vettes. I found some really good prices and pretty much loaded up my pickup. Ya had to take your time and dig for the deals though. As an example, I bought a new set of door panels for my 64 for $50 !! I had a great time. sure it was hot but I dressed for it and drank lots of water and an occasional beer ! I been going probably since they started the Vette show and hope to continue.

Is that all you got out of it Jack What about that nice Italian dinner and that mystery jug of rocket fuel you were carrying around? Geriatrics driving high horsepower cars? I take that personally

This was my first trip to Carlisle and was there all day Friday and Saturday. Given that I have a newly acquired ‘67 Convertible with many needs/missing parts, my primary focus was digging for rusty gold at the swap meet. I traversed the rows of swap meet vendors from 6 hours Friday and from 6.5 hours Saturday. While I didn’t get everything I needed for my ‘67, I made a huge dent in my 2 page parts list. I thought the swap meet was great and found that there was a huge selection of quality mid-year parts. My only regret was that I wish I would have had more time to check out some of the other things Corvettes at Carlisle had to offer. I did manage to spend an hour looking at the cars in the car corral, an hour checking out the cars in the NCRS Gallery tent and an hour walking the Fun Field late Saturday afternoon. I hope to make it back there again next year for the 50th anniversary celebration of the 1967 Corvette and allocate time for the things other than the swap meet.
